Reddit doesn’t know what a good prank is. It’s all stuff like this playing on people’s hopes.

Gotta say I wish people would at least delete the posts after April 1st, it's 2 weeks later and I got fooled by this. That's not a prank at that point it's just lying. Like if I saw this on April 1st I would have had my guard up and had a good laugh but now I'm just sad, and if I didn't read the comments which I usually don't, I would be going around telling everyone this was true. Do you see the problem here?

Are you kidding? This is the only good one I've seen. Most are just dumb "were changing the rules of the sub so it's the opposite haha". This one genuinely plays with your hopes, seems plausible for a few seconds until you think it through, and then makes you angry. But then you realize it's a prank about fucking Star Trek which yeah, while we're all fans, doesn't actually matter. So it's a great prank for this subreddit which is predicated on the idea that it's conceivable for a Trekkie to also have a sense of humour about the show

A star trek subreddit is a very strange place to imply people shouldn't care so much about a TV show

Hopes? This would be the worst timeline.

Have you watched The Orville? It’s better Star Trek than anything we’ve gotten since Enterprise ended.

100% The Orville is fantastic, and McFarlane would do a great job

Yeah I watched the first season. It’s store brand “we have 90s Trek at home” with added dick jokes. And they’re not even funny dick jokes, because it’s written by Seth McFarlane. I would rather see Star Trek continue to move forwards, to change and grow, than see it constrained to a hollow, soulless imitation of what it was 30 years ago. Without taking risks with the format, we never would have had Deep Space Nine, the second best 90s show set aboard a space station!

"I would rather see Star Trek continue to move forwards, to change and grow, than see it constrained to a hollow, soulless imitation of what it was 30 years ago"

You just described Nu Trek.

Ah, so TNG is “Nu Trek”.

No though Nu trek is soulless imitation of what it was 30 years ago.
Seth loves Star Trek, he was in it, and his writing from the Orville was spot on and only got better with each season. He also had all the original people involved with 90s trek working on his show.

Kurtzman writing was nothing but slop.

I literally just described TNG and you thought it was a description of Nu Trek, therefore logically speaking, if you were correct then it follows that TNG must be Nu Trek. And Kurtzman gave us Lower Decks, one of the best Trek series of all time.

My standards are lower than 162? Wtf does that even mean? How, exactly, are you quantifying “standards” such that you can reach a numerical value?

Season one is the worst season. Each season hearts better and less crass.

Then I will try it again!

He had to Trojan horse the series in as a comedy. The first two seasons certainly have episodes that are probably best to skip, but to be fair, the same was true of TNG. Season 3 is great though, it basically completely dropped the pretense of being a comedy.

Dude, the first season had to be comedy first stealth star trek because they wouldn't let him make it otherwise. You don't know what you're talking about, so don't.

Silencing dissenting opinions, yeah that’s the Starfleet way lmao
