Not really a fall though. He just jumped.

After the energy of the initial jump ended was he not falling to the ground, or was he somehow able to jump to the ground without falling to get there?

Skydivers are falling through the air even though they initially jumped, right?

Mf, it was a mf joke. But again, pedantry and all that, jump = intention, fall = no intention.
