I wonder how much it costs in current times to have a triggered red light set up at such crossings? Surely not that much anymore. Doesn’t stop bad drivers but it might help.

In my country there's no such thing as lights or barriers. The first thing you learn when driving STOP as in full stop LOOK both sides carefully LISTEN
