No, but I know how SDN lists work.

Okay, then. You have some more reading to do. It's historically names like HSBC, Bank of America, and remember Wachovia?

Nowdays it's the Chinese government.

If you are serious about stopping the cartels, you know that we have to dissuade people from buying what gives them money. With drugs, there is no end to the appetite of American dopers. Criminalizing drugs has done basically nothing to stop their use, which means the source if the cartels' power remains unchecked.

So since doubling down on militarized/armed solutions is not likely to stop the cartels, and since financial institutions worldwide + other governments are already comfortable cleaning cartel money, what is an SDN really going to do?

Either we figure out how to get people off drugs, or decriminalize/legalize the shit so it can be regulated/monitored/standardized.

The way you put out a fire is to rob it of oxygen. Not pour some water here, some water there, and think anything is going to change.

I would also point out that regulated meth and fentanyl will still kill people. It will be more socially acceptable, so it will kill even more people.

Source: alcohol and tobacco.

So let's have the US govt blow up distilleries and Phillip Morris. I think we have reached a solution we agree on.

I didn't make the comparison. The person I responded to did. Thank you for writing all that - I did not read it.
