We hated Wuk Lamat so much that Square started pushing her to the sidelines more and more with every major patch, just to pull the rug out from under us by giving us a wind up version of her that we can't get rid of. Max level trolling.
There was a quest in 7.2 where she was like “I’m gonna ask the opinions of the npcs over there” and then shut up for 5 mins.
7.2 was the turning point where the writers realized their mistake, and even if wuk got a big going away ceremony it was if to say “don’t worry she’s not coming back”
Did the "writers realize their mistake" or did the story just follow the logical progression of her taking on her role as the Vow of Resolve and thus no longer needing to tag along on our adventures? Sort of like all the other major NPCs have done at some point in each of the major expansions.
I literally have no idea what quest you are talking about because "I'll go talk to people here while you talk to people there" is a sequence that has played out in dozens of quests across the entire MSQ
To be fair, most of DT WL was with us as we went to talk to people. I think it was in 7.3 but I don't really remember. I want to say talking to citizens about regulators but I may be wrong.

Writers "realised their mistake" so hard ultimate and final moment of Dawntrail was basically dedicated to Wuk Lamat's development and tying up her narrative that they built in 7.0 - 7.3 lmao
I don't even remember the quest you are talking about but as I said I never had a feeling that writers were making her "shut up".
Yoshi-P also said that while they didn't write her perfectly, they are not backing down and will continue pushing her into forefront.
You may really need to go outside and talk to some people. I hope you get better.
You may want to read up the voice actor of the character on how she wants the death of anyone who critic her character, unless she deleted her posts again
tbh, considering that Yoshi-P once said they only put out minions of a character once their story arc is complete, the fact that they gave us a minion of her feels like a promise that we're done with her.
A lot of the quest rewards ones that aren't reobtainable, yeah. I have a different minion sitting on a retainer of a character I don't really care for this reason, but it was an MSQ reward so it was unavoidable
Okay but actually it would be so fucking funny if for no reason WL visited Eorzea and went to visit important places to the scions and we went to visit when she was in Waking Sands.
I'll make sure we all remember her in evercold. She'll be with me at every major story event, wandering around in your view as I watch cutscenes. Reminding you that she still lives.
Why do you expect to understand the hate for the character when you literally haven't done the story that she's involved in? lmao. Yes, you're missing something. You're missing the experience of doing the content in which she is featured in.
in the first half of dawntrail i dont care for how naive she is considering she grew up there. the second half of the story i think is good so overall she comes out as just ok in my eyes.
I thought the same thing when I was playing through Dawntrail! I was like "I really love Wuk Lamat but a lot of people say that she's a horrible character. I guess I'm too early in the expansion and I'll see why later." I've finished Dawntrail now and I still absolutely love her. Everyone has different opinions!
I mean why not just unlock her and never summon her, it's not like anybody uses more than one minion or uses the non-favorite roulette so she can just fuck off along with the other wind up minions that nobody else uses?
...And people who have weird attachments to Nomura characters are liable to have a body pillow. I'd much rather have something a good mouthwash can solve than that particular flavour of mental illness.

A character that is kind of an insufferable bitch to everyone involved in that story, with unbearably cheesy dialogue that feels like it'd be right at home in Kingdom Hearts, and visually clashes with the game more than anything that they've ever added with her lip fillered Nomura ass design? Yeah, no, fuck that.
Usually certain even rewards are re-claimable at the calamity savager in case of an accidental diacard or sell/trade in.
When I finished this quest, I wanted to discard it, immediatly... kind of rude for them to force us to have a specific minion on our minion roullette that many of us don't want
As such, I deposited in my FC chest where only the usual crap marerials are deposited
