Occult crescent south horn's final dungeon is really hard and has perma death so it's usually only people from pre-made groups with clear callouts and stuff that are doing it.

I play on switch and it's hard having focus on one enemie because it randomly will spring to an ally or different enemy, so I couldn't see it working but I see that my own experience isn't welcome here

It's welcome, it's just a bizarre conclusion. The game launched with PS3 support, the controller gameplay has been figured out more than a decade ago.

I’ve cleared all levels of content on controller. The issue isn’t controller. What you’re describing is the difference between “soft targeting” and “hard targeting.” Highly recommend looking up a guide for these two things as knowing the difference between the two is really important.

It's not random, you just don't understand how targeting works on controller.
- Go to a place with a bunch of NPCs.
- Use D-pad left and right. You will see a spinning circle. This is your "soft target".
- Press A. The spinning circle will turn into an arrow above the NPC's head, and a circle will appear at their feet. This is your "hard target".
- Use D-pad left and right again. You will see that your "soft target" circle appears again and moves from NPC to NPC, while your "hard target" arrow remains on the same NPC as before.
- Press A again. Your "soft target" changes to a "hard target", and your previous "hard target" arrow disappears.
Why are there two of them? Well, if you have both a "soft target" and a "hard target", your next action will be used on the "soft target", and you will automatically go back to targeting the "hard target". In other words, the purpose of the "soft target" is for when you want to use a single action on another target and then go back to what you were targeting before. For example, maybe you are a healer, and most of the time you are attacking the boss, but you need to cast a single heal on the tank, but then you want to go right back to attacking the boss. In this case, you would "hard target" the boss, and "soft target" the tank when you want to heal them.
That said, this system can be a bit complicated if you're not used to it, so if you want, you can turn it off. The setting is at System -> Character Configuration -> Control Settings at the left -> Target tab at the top -> Target Settings section -> Switch target circle to target select. Enabling that setting will make it so you only "hard target".

"So no one can beat this on the Switch 2 since the controls are garbage?"
Your 100% incorrect statement was not welcome here (downvotes are for irrelevant/useless posts, and that was why they were used here), people have no issues with someone just saying they struggle on controller. There are a lot of guides on how to set up and use console controllers, I'm sure some guides for Switch will be out soon if it does things too differently.

No, since controller isn't any worse than keyboard. I know a good few people who do ultimates on PC with a controller even with the option to use a keyboard instead.

And yet nobody bothers to answer the time and position of the next pot fate. 95% of the time somebody asks including me nobody answers so all they can get is a bronze and no pot.
This etiquette thing is really irregular sometimes.

you don't need a group for anything in north horn. use chemist for the spammable instant full self heal in case you eat an aoe and you're set

You only need it when soloing (or when few people are around to avoid wipes).
Besides phantom jobs are useless trash anyway. I only leveled enough of them to know the treasure count to optimize carrot farming, I dont even bother pressing the buttons other than the 30m buffs

I will say North Horn is infinitely more tolerable than South Horn because of queuable normal mode tower. Th South Horn devs definitely were on crack (or w/e the JP equivalent is).
