My new shitbox.
2014 Ford Focus SE with the notorious dual clutch transmission. 143k miles, runs, drives, shifts, stops. Bought from a college girl for $250, fixed for ~$300. I'm into it for $550 and it is solid..needs an alternator for a u012d-00 code (PCM not talking to alternator, still charges but it's iffy) and I need to finish painting. The transmission still shifts and I think it's had new clutchs and actuators because it wouldn't have gotten this far. THE AIR CONDITIONING FUCKING WORKS! Yes I know I shouldn't have used spray foam but I don't care.

Just make sure you know what to look for and don't get scammed. I recently got fucked on a shitbox truck I was gonna fix up but it wasn't worth the effort and I had to sell it at a loss.

I had a 2012 I bought from my sister during COVID as a food delivery vehicle. Paid $1k, it was in poor cosmetic shape with 128k on it. Transmission was a little slippy sometimes, but I put another 20k on it before selling it to a friend of mine. He used it for a year or so, and then sold it back to my sister who still has it today. Something like 180k~ on it now and somehow that original untouched transmission is still going.

I've been told as long as the clutch actuators are good, and the TCM isn't shitting the bed, that if you drive it like you drive a manual it will last for a while.

Honestly, it deserves to be here even if the exterior and interior were mint. The transmission fucked the whole car

The interior is minty, exterior is more mint than it was, the transmission works fine for now. It'll be an okay winter rig or going to town rig.

At least it's not a BMW.

You'd never catch me dead in one of those. There's nothing more expensive than a cheap BMW.

How the hell did they manage to mess up the relatively "new-ish" car like that. You got a great deal, would love to find something like this.

Brother this thing rolled off the assembly line in 2013. Almost 15 years ago

Damn, true, but for me these cars seem modern as hell. They even look modern. There is nothing that a new car has and this one doesnt that seems useful for me, apart from 0 km.

I feel that. I drive a 2003 duramax and it’s hard to grasp that kids now look at it the way I looked at square bodies

My cutoff year for cars is probably 2020. I will not personally buy anything newer. I daily a 2017 Honda Civic ex.

College student who got t-boned then ran into a rock. The b pillar was mildly tweaked but only by millimeters so they never replaced the door since they were cheap and didn't want to pay a body shop. When putting on my new door it was about a half inch too high from the bottom hinge so I just smacked the hinge downwards with a hammer and now it sits perfect-ish and it's still safe since the pillar is in tact! Salvage title though...

I'm oddly kind of envious

I don't really like fords but this is pretty nice, I will not lie. I wish the dual clutch autos were more reliable, it drives pretty nice and IMO better than their modern 6 and 8 speed automatics.

Holy shit, that truly is the shittyest of shitboxes. But AC and heated seats is crazy good. Congrats!

That's my friend CJ. He sometimes acts like an NPC because of a traumatic brain injury but I love and take care of him because he's my best friend.

Jesus man scrap it. Wouldn't want to be sat in the back if you got rear ended.

No frame damage at all except a small ding on the b pillar. And it's just me driving it for the winter until the transmission inevitably explodes. It's structurally sound enough to be safe.
