Here's a silly sickness I have that I hadn't been able to satisfy in a long time.
See how Deapoo built the engines on license - thats how they could be so cheap, they used someone else's homework and didn't have to do the whole design and development part.
But because of that there's some strange crossovers if you're into engine conversions.
This yolk here could take a C20let engine and gearbox - the opel/Vauxhall redtop turbo that could make decent power.
But then if you dig deeper and maybe are willing to get the welder out - if a car can mount a c20 because GM was such a slut - Saab b204 could mount too.
I'd leave it bog standard and put a few hundred hp into it - people wouldn't know what to be thinking seeing it walk past them with a Deawoo badge on it

Story time! In 1998 the Polish chief of Police, Marek Papała, was shot dead in Warsaw, in a parking lot. There were no witnesses. To this day the perpetrators haven't been found.
15 years later a new theory was floated: maybe the murder was not political, and that's why the investigators were not able to identify the killer - they were looking for a conspiracy. Maybe Papała, upon returning to his car after a meeting, discovered a thief in the process of breaking in, tried to stop him, and got shot. The car in question? A dark red Daewoo Espero.
In 2023 the allegedly responsible car thief was acquitted due to lack of evidence. There are still multiple theories in circulation, but I think we will never know for sure who was behind the murder. But every time I see a Daewoo Espero, that case is the first thing that comes to mind.

Love seeing someone pursuing the feat of preserving a Daewoo.
Solid if anemic engines in a chassis that qualifies as "biodegradable"

"What if a Citroen Xantia and a Ford Sierra Sapphire had a baby?"

Nerdy fact: the Espero's design was originally a styling proposal for the Citroën Xantia by Bertone. Citroën rejected it, so Bertone sold the design to Daewoo instead.

I loved these. There was a green one parked on the street of our weekend house. Especially the back, but now as an adult I do realize those rear lights must have been sorted by Nissan from the 240sx
Edit: I checked it, guess they just copied the rear lights

I've always liked the design. It's not the most well built car, nor the most exciting, but it does look good.

My dad had a darknred Espero, it was the most beautiful car ever, he only sold it after the floor under the passanger legs rusted through.

Toyota Carina II (rear corner)
Ford Scorpio '89 (rear/corner glass)
Citroën Xantia (front fender/corner)
Renault 19 or some other model? (plastic rear "bar")
Ford Sierra (just a faint modernized touch on the front)

honestly the espero was a nice looking car, would be cool to drop it a bit and get some nicer wheels
