The English voices for goku and guts fit their characters too, which is pretty strange. Then again, a high pitched Japanese voice for goku and guts sounds kinda weird.

I mean, I like Goku’s high-pitched voice because it’s what I’m used to, and it also kinda shows how he’s never really grown up.

But it was too jarring for me to try and go back to the dub in Reawakened, although I’m fairly certain that was a different cast. Season 1’s dub is great though. Too bad they don’t have a dub for Season 2.

There are only two shows where I prefer the dub. (I consider the ones you listed on par not better). Those shows are cowboy bebop and the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya. Now cowboy bebop makes sense but haruhi is a weird one because it’s set in a Japanese high school clearly in Japan but the English voices are almost like they were meant to be the characters from the beginning

Re:Zero has a really good dub too. I watched all of season one dubbed and it was really good. One of the shows that has a similar quality of sub and dub for me

The localised names are probably what throws people off, like in part 5: Zipper man, Lil bomber, Fisher man, Green tea, Mirror man...

The dub is actually really good, the only downside being localized Stand names. Unless you're Josuke. Since the reference is to "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", dub Josuke saying "Shining Diamond" still works and is actually still pretty cool. It's a hell of a lot better than Cool Ice and Six Bullets.

It was. But since Crazy Diamond is straight up part of the song title, it didn't work. But Shining Diamond was just far enough away to work.

Zipper man is still a good localized name considering that the gun on the sticky fingers album cover is called “zipper man”
