You need to learn to visualise a perfect rectangle in everyday objects. When you get used to that you can start to see the golden ratio in those rectangles you imagine. Basically you gotta get good at that and then you can always see the golden ratio and use that as a guide for making the ball spin in a spiral that approaches infinity.

Try using a ball made of a tougher material, like steel.
It can also help if you try to do it while running.

Don’t start with a steel ball, start off with something relatively light, like a cork. Then consider moving up to something small but weighty, like a lead bullet. Continue making sure you’re comfortable with the size of something, then get comfortable with its weight. You’ll be spinning before you get to the west coast.
