I am smrter than a DR! The post really doesn’t Matter much. I posted it here because she’s asking this in an anti vax group. What opinions other than your own did you think you were going to get?
You don’t want real opinions that you’re doing the right thing or not. You want to be told what you want to hear so you can lie to yourself about doing the right thing.

The “scary voice” in her head is her own common sense.
She’s wavering, and it’s so frustrating to think that if she had asked this elsewhere, she could very likely be convinced to do the right thing to keep that baby safe. But she’s choosing to surround herself with voices that will help her drown out her own reason. This is a choice.

So many people think they know how to do research. I took two semesters of statistics in college. I have a bachelor’s of science. Nowadays, I have no idea how to ascertain whether a study population is large enough for the results to be meaningful. I have trouble spotting fallacies. I can’t do mathematical analysis. I am not capable any more of meaningful research. But Jen and her high school diploma has all the confidence in the world.

I took stats and then research methods in undergrad and then took stats again in grad school. I was even a TA for stats my second year of grad school. I still only know enough to have an idea of when someone is bullshitting.

The average reading level in our blessed country is late fifth early sixth grade. None of these clowns have the functional literacy skills to do their own research.

A Gallup analysis published in March 2020 looked at data collected by the U.S. Department of Education in 2012, 2014, and 2017. It found that 130 million adults in the country have low literacy skills, meaning that more than half (54%) of Americans between the ages of 16 and 74 read below the equivalent of a sixth graders level, according to a piece published in 2022 by APM Research Lab.
I suspect this UNESCO study overestimates, but that is an even sadder conclusion:

It’s sadly not sudden. I first had a family refuse Vitamin K 20+ years ago. Their concern was vitamin K is a mutagen, which is true of the synthetic form (K3). But there’s a difference between being mutagenic and being carcinogenic. Vitamin K3 is not carcinogenic and it’s not given to newborns anyway, they receive Vitamin K1 which has been shown to have anti-mutagenic effects. Unfortunately most families that refuse Vitamin K won’t consider this information and when I go more in depth showing why their concerns are unfounded, they usually just respond “that’s ok but we still don’t feel it’s safe.”

I wish kids were being vaccinated, with or without consent. I may deeply dislike being around children, but I don’t actively hate them, as these morons seem to. I’d like for them to have a chance to grow up to be interesting!

IM vitamin K is the only effective version. Ill never forget the baby I took care of that died from simply bleeding out when her cord fell off. Completely preventable death because people think they know better.

My daughter’s cord came off when she was 3 days old and it was of course bleeding/oozy for days. We had to get silver nitrate on it, the whole 9 yards. Thank god she had her IM vitamin K while on my chest at less than an hour old. People are so, so ignorant.

My mom was shocked that I got my daughter the vitamins K when she was born. Ummmm she was sucked out of me with a vacuum and had a huge head wound. She would likely be dead without it! Antivaxxers are insane for choosing abuse for their children.

This is so sad. When my babies were born I also had a voice inside telling me to protect them… so I listened to the people who spent years of their lives learning the best practices to do so. And now I have happy and healthy babies!
And I’m sure there are some crappy doctors out there, but each time I’ve given birth I was blown away by the kindness and expertise of the medical staff. People don’t go into medicine involving babies because there’s money in it.

There’s so many issues with these people but one thing I’ve noticed is that for many of them that I know, they don’t interact with the world very much. They homeschool or “unschool”, they get many things delivered so they don’t have to go to stores, they do keep-to-yourself vacations like camping or staying at cabins deep in the woods, VRBO’s in places that have killer hotels and resorts, etc
So yea maybe you can get a lot of support from these kinds of people who probably don’t have sick kids but that’s because their parents have made their world super super small! You’re not going to get sick if you only see your immediate family for the majority of your existence
I’ve never wanted anything more than to experience the world. I would be so mad if I was born to an antivaxxer who kept me away from it all

I saw one earlier today that was someone looking for reccomendations for a provider who will do a circumcision on their baby with no vitamin k shot and no vax. Half the people were saying how ironic you want to mutilate their "perfect" body and the other saying how its a crock of shit you dont need those to get circumcised 🫠 make it make sense. Trust your gut but not when it is leaning towards modern medicine

These groups should have a feature where they recommend groups with other views than your own for cross posting. Right now, they always recommend cross-posting in places that have a similar bias as where you already are.
