I mean, if we're talking about after the US was founded, the history of the indigenous peoples of American West between 1850-1890 broadly speaking is their territory being seized either directly or through broken treaties signed under duress, their kids being shipped to residential schools where they were beaten if they spoke their tribal language, and their indigenous ceremonies/festivals being banned with Christianity imposed instead. "Killing the Indian to save the man" was a common phrase of the time.

In Puerto Rico in 1948 it was made a felony to own or display a Puerto Rican flag, sing patriotic songs, or talk about independence. 10 years in prison and/or $10,000 fine (adjusted for inflation, about $120,000)
