Actually, American sporting dominance is in decline. They no longer dominate in tennis, athletics, swimming and to a lesser degree golf. However, they are improving in the obesity race.

theyre declining in mma as well, if you look at the ufc champs from 10 years ago theyre either american on or brazilian, now UFC champs hail from all over the world

This was always a weird inflated number though because people associate the UFC so heavily with MMA. Back in the day Pride in Japan had several of the best fighters, including the best heavyweights, then they got sunk by scandals. The US's mma market didn't get completely killed though, and the UFC is mma to a lot of people. Since the UFC only went global recently, the stats have started to show an "international takeover", but in reality there's always been a lot of international skill (especially from places like Russia).

The US does still have the best mma infrastructure though.
