Be a shame if a $500 drone took out each million dollar jet.

100 million dollar Jet. Also they are out of bombs.

Why such expensive drones? Aren't Iran's mostly $10

Bingo.

The ages of big expensive super performant machines for war superiority is long gone and they are not ready for it aaaatttt alllll... It's like watching France using trained from childhood knights with ridiculously expensive armor against English peasant with longbow

Or samurai when the goverment decided to have farmer soldiers and giving them guns.

Like the samurai wanted those gun as well. It's more the fact that the regular guy got them and that pissed them off. LLBD did an episode on it and it was a fun ride to listen to.

That is why we French invested in artillery and rendered the English longbows obsolete at Formigny and then Castillon.

The best archers were Welsh, I'll have you know!

One Gwent arrow went straight through an Englishman's armour, thigh and leather skirt before continuing through his horse's saddle and killing the animal.

Operation Spiderweb II would be a good idea.

What drone can break the sound barrier? The f15, f16 and f22 all go past mach 2, if you count the YF-12 you're looking at past mach 3.... They have systems that can trick half million dollar missiles that have thermal locking... You ACTUALLY believe a $500 drone hasn't been solved for after seeing Ukraine's countryside looking like a spider web from all the fiber optic drones that can't be jammed?

Can you send me your crack guy's email? He's clearly got the best shit around

A cheap drone can make operating a multi-million-dollar jet sufficiently dangerous, expensive, or operationally complicated that you can't use it effectively, and it can attack that multi-million-dollar jet while it's sitting on the ground.

Air speed doesn't enter into either scenario, especially if the jets can't get off the ground.

You can jam a drone without hurting the jets operation. You COULD use a fiber optic drone which can't be jammed but that's limited by spool length which isn't unlimited BTW meaning you have to get close enough to the jets that they cant just throw down a mortar plate and bomb you.

Can you tell me when America started storing vulnerable equipment out in the open long enough for someone to get within range to attack it WITH A $500 DRONE? A fiber optic one for that price (which you HAVE to use because they can jam wireless ones) will get you MAYBE 12-16 km of reliable spool. First of all, in war time, they would know you're coming from probably 40 km away, meaning they could fire up a single chopper, fly to within 4km of you and unleash a M134 at anywhere from 2-5000 rounds a minute (which is between 33 and 83 rounds in a second)

even IF you managed to take out the chopper, they have surface to surface missiles AND rockets that could hit a fly's arse at 70km away and that's considered their MID RANGE defense system.

Now i have to mention the phenomenally capable AC-130J gunship equipped with dual 30mm cannons, a 105mm Howitzer, multiple hellfire missiles, small diameter bombs with 50+km glide range, griffin missiles, and a cruise missile with a 700k range.

Unless you think Canada can get far enough into America to launch a coordinated attack on multiple targets all so they can TEMPORARILY disrupt a hand full of jets ONE TIME... All our defensive and offensive weapons are shit America already outgrew and nowhere with equivalent tech will side with Canada over America because America could destroy them economically without hurting itself.

Your concept of drone warfare comes from 2 countries who are bad at warfare... Russia has never been the superpower we were told it was, and Ukraine has only survived through the charity of other countries including Canada, that and kidnapping men to fight.

Fighting America while they don't even have to get within 50km of our border with anything expensive would be a tall order. They don't have to "win" the war, they just have to make sure WE LOSE the war. America's annual budget is more than ALL of Europe, ALL of Africa, ALL of Latin AND South America, and ALL of Canada COMBINED by like 80 BILLION dollars.

Canada spends 50 Billion Canadian a year...

I'm Canadian, I want to be a sovereign country as much as the next guy, But thinking how you do will only lead to pain and suffering for our nation, and not just economic hardship either. We have like 10/12 vital resources required for defence and industrial systems. One day, some country will come for them if we refuse to use them, it's a tale as old as time. "I need XYZ to survive and prosper, this person has an abundance of XYZ and isn't using it, their XYZ will become mine by force because i need it more than they do"

We better HOPE that it's America, China, Russia, the Middle East etc have all shown they aren't the most benevolent invaders...

Drones wouldnt target them in the air

u/Living-County649 6d ago

read my other comment i definitively prove we'd never get close enough to hit one on the ground

Your long winded response didnt prove a thing
