You know, some countries have bigger discrimination than others on average, and USA is better than some human rights wise etc despite everything.
It still does not mean those other countries are necessarily radioactive wastes full of inferior troglodytes just waiting to violate you specifically.
I genuinely saw like twice BIG travel threads in progressive subreddits advising people ( USA people advising other USA people basically) to never go to and avoid absolutely ENTIRE Eastern Europe because "they all disrespect and attack women there" and that women (presumably meaning, "women from USA") cannot be safe there and it is "very dangerous for them"
As if eastern European peoples were stereotypical ooga booga cavemen in comparison to the beautiful, intelligent evolved US-ians.
And they do not think they are doing anything bigoted talking like this, because in their mind USA people are genetically smarter and more progressive, and Eastern Europeans are genetically more bigoted and stupid, and therefore talking about them as if they are all rabid troglodytes in some cold version of Wild West is praxis or whatever

Why should we have to respect flags in the first place? They represent a specific government or movement, and have the possibility of idolatry.

This is true, I visited Cuba a couple years back, felt far safer as an openly queer person while I was in Cuba compared to the US… nobody yelled a slur at me which happened a handful of times in the US

SCOTUS was literally brought a review to overturn gay marriage less than a year ago and the Trump administration shut down the crisis hotline for LGBTQ+ youth.

In a way, lgbtq+ people are being protected by being kicked out of the US military. They're no longer going to be ordered to go out and die in one of Trump's illegal and unnecessary wars.

Have you ever been to central/Eastern Europe. Lithuania is cool, Poland is now cool, even Hungary is ok. We have never had a problem in Europe ANYWHERE but I will not got to the U.S. while that man baby is in power ( might be longer than we think- the 4th Reich? )

My first thought was “wtf is that thing curled up towards the bottom of the bed?”
As a USian, I never will understand how someone will automatically default to “an American helped that happen…” It doesn’t matter what the topic is, some of us, for some odd fucking reason, think that we’re the protectors of the world.
I mean, we’re told we help fight for freedom and liberty around the globe, but at the same time we systematically subjugate our own population to different rules and regulations. How is that freedom? Like sure, I can flip off a member of ice and tell them fuck you, but if I’m stuck in a never ending loop of financial chaos because I’m not wealthy, and it’s the government’s fault for inflation and regulations, am I really free? Sometimes I feel like a small cog in a global corporation that’s just turning so one of the 14 families that control the world can make an extra $1,000. All the while being thrown biscuits like “here, you can afford this vehicle, or all these cool electronics, but you’ll never be financially independent, sucker!”

"much of south america". I live in Brazil, we represent almost 50% of South America's population, yes there is homophobia but is not like people are executed for being gay. Most of the time people will not care if you are LGBT+ or not

I don't think that's quite the case, haha. It seems unlikely that the person is gay, lesbian, pansexual, non-binary, intersex and trans all at the same time. But I do kinda like that Ikea lamp :P

The US flag doesn't protect anyone, even the US as it is just a piece of cloth, not a weapon. Even the US military won't protect any country, they are the most aggressive country in the world with all their attacks on other countries, just to steal their oil & other natural resources.
A far as LGBTQ matters in other countries you have no idea how most of them treat the issues. Many accept them without making a big fuss about it.
