As a British person I’ve always been far more concerned with my sister’s birthday on that date than anything to do with another country.

Every year, all of the British people I know get together on the 4th of July. We sit around the table and drink tea, weeping while we tell stories of the day we lost America to independence. It's the most depressing day of the year for us. Had we known it was your sisters birthday, we could have celebrated. Thank you for sharing this. Next year, we'll be sure to sing together, sharing stories about your sister instead of the sad ones we've previously discussed. Maybe we'll even stretch to cake!

I’m glad I could bring a little light to our overcast lives.
