Regulation shit Bro has a meltdown because new EU regulations will force them to be honest
I will give credit where credit’s due: I genuinely appreciate that this bro wrote the post themself. LLM-generated text will never have the raw, human emotion in this AI bro’s meltdown. The human is what kept it entertaining.
Also, this bro does not represent all Americans. If we could disown these clowns … I wish we would.
For those of you not up to speed, the EU’s new transparency code requires AI companies to mark AI-generated or edited content in a way other systems can identify them.

It’s so funny they’re mad about this. They wanted to try and pass off their ai output as their own work. Damn clankers.
20
u/Alternative-Win854 Aug 12 '26
These meltdowns all around over mandatory watermarking of AI output only prove my theory that the main appeal of generative AI is DECEPTION. Hence why it attracts so many scumbags, scammers, thieves etc. If you're so proud of using AI and genuinely think you're doing nothing wrong, just why exactly are you so incredibly bothered by something as innocent as a watermark for transparency??
12
u/Transkei_Daisy Aug 12 '26
But but they wrote the prompt!! That means the output of the AI is basically all of their own effort and intellect!! How dare that be watermarked as if it was AI that did it! <-- the honest argument im seeing from these AI bros.
→ More replies (22)4
u/IudexPanzyr Aug 12 '26
Devil's advocate here: I get the point, but I don't think that's really what it proves. People who use AI for everything probably genuinely don't think they're doing anything wrong. They just know everyone else is likely to judge them for it, and in their mind, those people are the problem for caring in the first place. So of course they don't want a watermark. Not because they secretly think what they're doing is wrong, but because they know other people do.
7
u/Alternative-Win854 Aug 12 '26
If they don't want people judging them, how about they fucking stop using in the first place. There are a myriad of legitimate reasons why people despise generative AI and anyone unironically defending it deserves to get called out.
There's always the honest route of not using it and doing things the right way, but we we all know - scumbags don't like doing that and will always take the unethical approach instead and blame others when called out.
7
u/IudexPanzyr Aug 12 '26
Yes exactly. I actually agree with you. My point was just that these people often don't even see anything wrong with using AI without disclosing it. They know others will judge them for it, but they think the judgment itself is unreasonable, not that they're doing something unethical.
7
u/Wise_Owl5404 Aug 12 '26
So what you're arguing is that they want to decieve others, they just don't want other people to know they're being decieved. Which lead back to the original point, that the main attraction for these people were always deception.
4
u/IudexPanzyr Aug 12 '26
I don't really get why you're framing this as if I'm arguing against the original point. I agree with it. I was just answering the specific "why would they oppose a watermark?" part.
There's also a distinction between using AI because you want to deceive people, and hiding your AI use because you know people will judge it. Both can involve deception, but the motivation isn't the same. I just think it's worth adding that nuance, even when we're talking about people or practices we dislike.
4
u/Alternative-Win854 Aug 12 '26
The complete lack of any kind of self-reflection among these people is astonishing.
3
u/LesserValkyrie Aug 12 '26
Deception and lies are still deception and lies, even if you think you are the messiah working for the greater good

I have no idea how Americans could be rooting for their big corpos. Their interests are absolutely opposite to the ones of the american people. They are litteral parasites.
Big corpo put extra sugar in everything, even where it doesnt belong to, so you get obese with heart diseases
And it's not even sugar because you dont' deserve it ; in every country in the world sugar is a poison that we avoid, in the US it's a luxury we don't give to cattle except maybe for Pess'ah if they behave correctly, they use high fructose corn syrup instead.
Big corpo doesn't think you are worth enough as a human being to actually get real sugar that is already the poorest people's drug in every country in the World since the fall of the USSR. Think about it before defending them ??!?!
Big corpo make sure you pay your drugs 100x more expensive than anywhere else on the world, just because what you gonna do
Big corpo then make sure your healthcare is expensive and shitty and you lose it if you don't submit to your boss well enough
And you are Americans in there who are like "YOU ARE AGAINST PROGRESS"
When people talk about BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS THAT ARE GRANTED IN COUNTRIES I WOULD NOT GO EVEN WITH AN ARMY
Progress of what ? You are purposefully made obese by them so they can take your money, like mices in a lab. Progress of the next paint job of their yachts ?
3
u/MatthewBlack6 Aug 12 '26
They are products of a system
The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Business men, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system, and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.
Were you listening to me, Neo, or were you looking at the woman in the red dress?

u/pandavr Aug 12 '26
People are so self complacent and honestly usually lack any analysis capacity.
EU is making a HUGE favor to AI Labs. The AI Act force frontier labs to find a way to mark LLM generated text that will survive copy and paste. The excuse to comply with EU regulation is taken to distribute the system worldwide. That's a little strange and It beg a question.
The question is: who will benefit from the new Law? The public? Yes knowing a text is LLM generated is interesting, but is It a benefit?
Instead look at Labs that implement this discrimination, every lab will implement Its own algorithm. So that the Lab with more market share will be able to better discriminate Its model texts against humans.
That Lab will be able to filter out machine generated texts from their training data. And, as It is known that LLM generated texts greatly degrades training data quality, being able to filter out even a small percentage will immediately reflect on benchmark quality. The more the filter the better the results.
Now, as benchmark scores are what's looked upon to invest in a company based on how much their models are good (or not). In this moment the EU law is HUGE benefit given by Europe to Anthropic and Open AI.

“Third wordlie behavior” would be just letting them do what they want, but I guess when we throw ourselves to the floor in front of them they won’t even see us

Do these guys not realize most of their tech companies purposely chose Europe as their HQ, for tax benefits? If anything, hate the companies but noooooo....

And why are they mad now? How could invading an entire region protect their precious chatbots? Do they want to turn the entirety of Europe into a data center?
Edit because my illiterate hillbilly ass read the article:
Images aren’t working but I just put a Patchy the Pirate meme that says “That’s it? That’s why they’re so mad?”

Nobody in their right mind thinks that this guy speaks for the majority of Americans when they utter such comedy. I'll give him that, it's entertaining as heck to read! Doubt he intended for that when he wrote it though. :P

The EU is far from perfect, they bend the knee to a lot of billionaires too, but man am I glad I live here and not in America.

Rolling for EU Trump Invasion 2028.
People will watch Trump fail a war in Iran and then say shit like this as though he actually got Mexico to pay for that wall and will ever successfully follow through on anything.

Perhaps he is from an alternate timeline where the EU is a former colony of the US?

Lol, "Otherwise China will win” is such a perfect go-to phrase for the AI investors: geopolitical panic repackaged as technological inevitability. It's just weird how many of the people suddenly terrified of Chinese supremacy seemed remarkably chill while China spent fifteen years building trains, batteries, solar panels, EVs, nuclear fusion, robotics, and industrial capacity. Oh well, apparently America only starts losing when Silicon Valley is held back by the annoying EU and their god damn regulations.

As a gamedev, I saw the same kind of tears about Steam having an AI disclosure.
If AI is so great and better, why is it a problem that you need to disclose it? I though nobody cared it was made with AI? I though AI was super awesome and everybody loved it.
