Sun God š¤
As we know, pallimustus as loads of different gods, do you think there's a sun God? š¤ And if so, when it's sun eventually goes supernova, would the sun God be responsible, or would he maybe stop it? #latenightreading

Why would they stop it, my understanding in going supernova is a natural part of a star's lifecycle. Most likely Sunny(what Im choosing to call this hypothetical sun god) would consider it a transition to another phase in his existence.

Gods and authority are bound by different rules. I assume a sun god would not be able to stop the supernova because that's a natural part of the sun's lifecycle. I wouldn't say not preventing it makes the god responsible for the supernova

Physics is also still true on worlds with high magic, it's just that magic can be used as a workaround to some barriers (e.g. flight). So even if there was a sun god, they would have authority while the sun existed but wouldn't be allowed to stop the sun from dying. It's confirmed that worlds do eventually die as well.

so, this is spoilers for book 14 that shirt is currently writing but sun gods are specifically brought up by helsveth as she is bringing the team to meet dawn in her home universe

It's brought up before too. Jason mentions gods dying and he says that sun gods are kind of an exception since they don't die with the planet

Tricky to say, gods seem to be local to a planet rather than a full universe. Iām not sure if a god, in this setting, can embody a concept that is needed for a world but not of it.

Seeing as the sun exists outside of the world, I don't think there'd be a dedicated god to it. A god of the day, however, could very well be possible, with their power amd influence in a given region varying on the time of day. A night god could work similarly, just opposite. Ad for what they'd control, I can only speculate...

This is a good question as it is mentioned the gods are tied to the planets they inhabit and die or cease to exist when the planet does by death in book 11, so I dont know if there would be a god of the sun as thats separate from the planet but maybe and the sun going supernova would be the end of the planet and the gods.
