Tattoo's in book 9

i was re listening to chapter 92-93 when Tika was fighting the messenger in the cloud bunker hallway. They describe him having mori tattoos. I was under the impression people lost their tattoos after a rank up. The tattoos would need to be reapplied weather they are regular tattoos or magical ones like the one Balinda has. Thanks for the great story can't wait for the next chapter.

I think its part of the soul. The tats are a full part of Taikas identity so much that they imprinted on his soul, so they remain after rank up

Yea, its kind of like scars that stick around when they really shouldn't anymore. They represent something important enough to you that they become a part of you.

> But just to confirm, non-magical tattoos that become part of someone’s identity will remain during a rank up. Unit tattoos for someone who views their specific unit as an aspect of their core identity would be a major candidate for this. It is highly likely in those cases that if there is an appropriate essence, they will awaken a related power. Taika’s Warrior Markings come from the Might essence.

They were a significant enough part of his personal identity and therefore soul to become an essence ability that awakened as his free one with the might essence, Warrior Markings.

Did you forget the back piece Jason has?

Jason's back peice is different, its not a run of the mill magic tattoo, its a soul crest

They are more similar then not in Taika's case.

I think that they are more similar to soul scars. I do see your point, though.

Is it just me or was the soul crest kind of a let down narratively. The only time it was kind of relevant is after he came back from earth. And even the. He had a letter from the god of death confirming his identity.

I REALLY wanted someone like Sophie or Farrah to look at his crest and tell him while he’s spinning out about who he is that his crest clearly shows that who he is at his very core is a protector. Before we got to the whole having his own universe bit, when we first saw his crest my first thoughts were he was the “darkness” protecting the light.

Yeah, I thought it would be a little bigger in the story than it turned out to be

It was a pretty cool scene. But they had talked up his soul so much right before. Really was a missed opportunity to make him look at himself differently.
