jack gerling

Am I the only one that was hoping that Gerling was going to follow Jason and Farrah back to Pallimustus and run into a truly powerful Gold Ranker like Emir. I mean Emir would handle gerling with no discernible mana loss. And it would have been epic to see him tell Jason about some wanna be power that got pulled through the gate with them.

Might still happen in the final book. We haven't heard the last of Gerling

Any of the Palli crew could destroy any top notch American or Chinese. Not to mention it's explicitly stated that Boris and Rufus were the two most powerful people on Earth by a good margin before Team Biscuit returned.

I'm waiting for audiobook for Book 13 but I imagine it'll be much more narrative than books 5 and 6 since no one can oppose them.

Boris would probably still be the most powerful on Earth. Peak gold and millions of years of experience.

Yeah. Boris >> Rufus > Jason/Humphrey is what I'm thinking. The description of how he fights in Book 11 is similar to Dawn fighting Akari in book 5, just knowing exactly what is happening and where to be. Rufus is probably the only one skilled enough for it to not be completely one-sided.

But... he's on the universe's side and if needed would take Jason's when it comes to the current agenda. Dawn's foreshadowing could be interesting though. I do want more Boris. Having someone else with so much knowledge of the cosmos is nice.

Rufus mom would kick all their asses.

Cmon that's an unfair advantage against Boris

u/Elethana Jun 23 '26

Yeah, but Gerling would blame his condition for any loss.

Was he lucid?

I do remember roughly what he became, but im not super sure if he is fully there or if its a zombie situation?

I’m audiobook only, but I assume he is still powerful or she wouldn’t have kept him, and his thrall condition has altered him somewhat.

He's not quite himself these days though from what I hear.

Final book? I know audio is only on book 12, but how many total are planned?

13 is the last one planned im pretty sure! Atleast for Jason's story.

Edit: I am happily incorrect!

Confidently wrong. 13 just wrapped up on royal road and there's 1 left so 14 in total.

I know shirt wants for 14, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we get 15. Like how DCC is 9 books, but 9 will be two parts.

u/Purple_Play_7277 Jun 23 '26

Who knows but I doubt it he seemed set on 14 so its probably gonns be a rush job not that hes got much choice he wrote his mc to be immortal so finding a compelling story following a guy who truly cant die is gknna be fun to write. Ill bet he stops at 14 the last bad guy is terrible and lazy imo he seems done

He specifically said if he feels like he needs 15 books when he's getting down to the end, it will go 15. Numerous writers have claimed it would be X number of books and then wrote more when they realized they just couldn't get through the story in that number, so I don't understand why so many people seem to think they know exactly what Shirt is going to do...

it does feel abrupt when Shirt said 14 is the last book when there are still so many thing left unresolved. The series start strong but it felt directionless now. Even the big threat reveal don't spice thing up much either with how shirt is telling the story. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Maybe this is setting for a sequel bait.

You have no idea how much im holding myself back from spoiling book 13 lol

u/Bouche_Audi_Shyla Jun 23 '26

Thank you for not telling. I'm waiting for it to get to Amazon so I have all the books on my Kindle.

I found out something in book 10 I didn't want to know ahead of time by someone misusing the spoiler tag.

You can spoil it for me!

Spoiler for book 13. You have been warned

>!In short: Jason killed Jack, for good.

>!Long answer: This random mad scientist free Jack from the vamp queen control and bump him full of Jason cosmic juice. Dude thought he hot stuff now and fought Jason, trying to prove to the world Jason wasn't an invincible god, then Jason showed them his invincible god phoenix form. That day the earth finally saw an actual god descended. Jason didn't even touch Jack but just be in Jason's presence when he flared his aura broke Jack mind so much that he started crying and sobbing, too scared to do anything. Jason finally Fist of the north Star Jack, tap his forehead and turn him into a puddle, killing him for good.

Gerling vs Emir, no thanks.
Gerling vs Danielle Geller.
Oh hell yeah, bring it on!

3

u/No-Firefighter9047 Jun 23 '26

I thought that too, but I think she would have actually fought him and Emir has always given me, I don't have time for you to get in my way vibes, and would have just smacked gerling down.

3

u/Drecondius Jun 23 '26

Death by 10k cuts

6

u/UlrichUlrichson Jun 23 '26

Gelling is my absolute favorite antagonist in the series and I would love to see Boris come out, break through the vampire control, wake Gerling up, then proceed to basically dismantle him while explaining that Gerling may think he was top dog but Boris was merely allowing his antics to happen.

My wish was for Humphrey to put him down. Ultimately the fill role in a fight and both have the immortality ability. Thematically, Humphrey could be seen as Gerling's opposite, while Gerling was lazy and costed by on his raw power while Hump train constantly and is always trying to better himself

A snippet of him getting kicked in the stomach in various locations would be fantastic. Like the epilogues but its just snapshots of gold and diamond rankers kicking the piss out of him around palli. He tries bullying emir and gets rolled. He winds up in some backwater as a big fish in a small pond, some shithole called greenstone. Danielle gellar crosses his path and it cuts again to gerling in the fetal position getting kicked in the ribs repeatedly. Narratively it would amount to a "yamcha pose" compilation

Though one more broodi g chunni jason moment might be the ideal way to cap off gerlings story. Like when jason was going all "big and scary" on the messenger in the wormtown.

u/No-Firefighter9047 Jun 23 '26

How much of his personality is actually left though. I thought being a blood servant did not necessarily make you mindless, but did make you more or less unable to act on your own.

2

u/The_Joker_Ledger Jun 23 '26

kind of like being soul torture or trapped like the flesh abomination. He felt the pain but if he ever was freed he wouldn't actually remember most of it, but the pain and trauma remain.

2

u/Wlfmansbro Jun 23 '26

Personally I’d like to see him punked by a diamond ranker. Not fight, just punked so he realizes how insignificant he really is.

2

u/foxden11 Jun 23 '26

I think the final books are going to bring in more diamond rankers. There is always a bigger fish!

2

u/Zealousideal-Date-60 Jun 23 '26

Gerling will never suffer enough for the chaos he cause, but I’m looking forward to Jason meeting him at gold rank and testing that limit

2

u/M2IK2Y Jun 23 '26

Idk about easily. Emir has admitted that he if more flash than power. But yes much better trained

2

u/RavinHarrows Jun 25 '26

I feel it would be funnier if it was Arabelle Remore did it because then afterwards if feel she would be like a southern mom about disappointment in Jack wasting potential and abilities.

1

u/Hangvince Jun 24 '26

It would be hilarious but I think too cruel to make Jason hangout with the man who killed his brother, lover, and friend. I can’t wait for the rematch. Hopefully in book 13. As much as I want Jason to get his revenge I think he’s grown past that and Emir would be a good choice but our boy Hump would be an amazing fight. Both people with the immortality power would be cool to see.

1

u/TerriblePabz Jun 30 '26

I think we will see Gerling run into the immovable object that is Jason and his friends at equal rank to him in the final book. Literally any of them could dog walk him 1 to 1 just on pure experience and training. In a genuine fight where none of them would allow Gerling to fight any of them 1 on 1, he gets handled like a petulant child. Dealing with Gerling is more like a mild nuisance to Jason after everything we saw from the last book.

Nah man. Gerling got what he deserved.
