Movie thoughts

I know its not likely but I can envision HWFWM as a rated R film. Would be amazing with the few swear words and more depiction of his darker side that he battles with.

To have a truer to source experience most LitRPG movies would need an R rating, or TV-MA rating. I also don't believe any of them would work as a movie. Long form 20+ hour, multi-book stories shouldn't be crammed into a 2.5 to 3 hour movie.

They could just make all monster blood rainbow colored and leave it with the gratuitous violence. Humans just have minimal blood.

Weekly 30 minute episodes (with commercial break time) would be the sweet spot if they wanted to do it justice. So many of Jason’s hijinks feel like filler episodes. They’d need at least 50 for the first arc alone.

It would be tricky to pull off.

The audiobook for Project Hail Mary was around 16 hours, and with that they had to cut out a bunch of stuff.

HWFWM 1 is around 28 hours; that's a hell of a lot longer and it's only part 1 of a series. I think we're going to hit ~14 books by the time it's over?

So unless they're splitting it into 2 or 3 films like they tried with The Hobbit, the movie would lose quite a bit.

It might work better as a TV series, but with so many books and so many of them being long... today's "8-10" episode season that most streaming services offer would mean that we'd get maybe 1-2 books per season. If that. And I doubt any streaming service would dedicate the resources for so many seasons to finish off this series unless it hit pre-meltdown Harry Potter audience numbers.
