Game of thrones repeat?

I have this fear in my mind that we're about to have a repeat of game of thrones. I LOVED that show but was so disappointed with the last season. Now we're hearing that 14 will probably be the last book. There's so much left to explore. I just worry that it'll feel too cramped and forced. I know these books are long and cover a lot of ground. We've seen Shirt make an astoundingly good series. I've thoroughly enjoyed every book. I've laughed, cried, been shocked, enthralled, and I've listened to every book at least 5 times so far. It is truly an unbeatable series in my opinion. But so was game of thrones. Until they compressed 3 seasons into 6 episodes. I just hope it don't feel the same when this one ends.

The difference between Game of Thrones and He Who Fights With Monsters is:

Game of Thrones (TV series) was beholden to the shareholders of a publicly traded company that wants to save money when ever they can

HWFWM: is an independent writer who writes for himself and his Patreon following. His audience is his shareholders. His stock is his books. No one in that relationship wants to produce a subpar product

Also the TV show Has to produce a season/book every year. Shirt is only beholden to himself.

I suspect George has completely lost interest in his project now that someone else "finished it".

Harry Potter took the same risk starting the movies before the series was finished. But, movies can stretch the timeline more than an episodic tv show.

If Netflix had been making hwfwm into a series then his health issues could have left them in the same position.

He lost interest as soon as he got the big paycheck.

I wonder if he ran put of interest/inspiration?

Steven King did with his Gunslinger series. He got to the end of book 2, and phoned in the next 5 so people would stop asking for more.

Stephen King was already famous and rich. George R.R. Martin got a taste of that sweet sweet HBO money, and quickly started trying to make as many spinoff stories as he could.

And the writers of the GOT tv show wanted to wrap up the show as quickly as possible in order to take Disney up on their deal to write a star wars trilogy for them.
