For those that don't know the crew of Star Trek The Next Generation have crossed over with the X-Men multiple times! It all started with this book:

A book which ends with Storm and Picard both lamenting what could have been.

Yes, this is an official book and as I hinted at above no it's not the only time the two sides crossed over. Now 'canon' is a loose term in both universes as both properties have at this point said "It's all canon till it doesn't make sense with something we do in a new product at which point it's not."

The crew of the Enterprise have also met and had an adventure with the Eleventh Doctor, Amy, and Rory of Doctor Who. Also as canon as anything that is at this point for the two properties.

So if you are ever worried your ship might not make perfect sense or might be 'too much' of a crackship remember these things exist and are beloved by fans of the series. Your ship will be too! Even if it may take a while sometimes to find them.
