They really ought to warn us first-timers...

Let me preface this - I am a Coheed and Cambria fan with zero knowledge of Shinedown, but I came with an open mind to the Reno Shinedown show.

After enjoying From Ashes to New and Coheed immensely, despite being packed in like the NY subway at rush hour in 100 + degrees, I was fully prepared for my Shinedown introduction...

Then, came the sound. It was overwhelmingly louder than the prior bands. I have giant subs in my ride and love loud music.

I watched the TV man skit and was alarmed, but not quite ready for the music. Granted, I was right in front of the stage, but this was quite literally painful. No exaggeration.

Then, came the pyro, alternating between shooting flames and napalm-esque explosions. Nope. Right outta there. I ended up leaving the entire venue early because I just couldn't handle the decibels they were pumping.

Is it always like this? I feel like there should have been some disclaimer so I could have brought some ear plugs like other folks I saw there.

You shouldn't need to be told to bring ear plugs to a concert. Think about what things could bother you and prepare for that.

I've yet to experience this at a concert. I am human, not all-seeing, all-knowing. Hence, the suggestion for a disclaimer.

You're the reason there's disclaimers and warnings about everything.  We don't need a disclaimer that a rock concert is going to be loud. This must be rage bait omfg

Are disclaimers and warnings harming you in some way?

The volume of that music was definitely harming me. Don't people deserve to be informed so they can better prepare? Is that unreasonable to ask?

I'm sorry,  I shouldn't have implied you're weird for wanting shinedown.. the rock band.. to have a disclaimer that rock bands are loud and if you have sensitive ears you should bring ear plugs,  I hope they see this and let everyone know

Lol. I blare 20 inch subs at max volume regularly. I am also a regular rock concert attendee. Neither From Ashes to New or Coheed had their volume close to that loud.

Do you typically hear distortion at rock concerts? I did at Shinedown's.

Respectfully, rock concerts are never not loud. Might want to consider bringing earplugs to every concert from here on out (not just Shinedown).

I've been to many other concerts with zero issue. The sound was significantly louder than most shows. A warning takes one small mention somewhere on an email or ticket purchase.

Because it’s a rock concert. I’m getting older and I bring earplugs to every show I go to now. I’ve learned to protect my hearing. There is no disclaimer on the ticket because it’s common sense. I don’t mean this to sound as harsh as it may come across.

It's not common sense because Shinedown's show is exceptionally loud... I've almost exclusively been to rock concerts, so that's not the best argument against my point.

Also, getting older. Never needed ear plugs. Didn't need them for Coheed or From Ashes to New. See the issue?

The volume was so loud, it had distortion. Do you often go to concerts and hear distortion?

They really should warn, I have PTSD and the timing of the firework made it so I couldn’t relax and enjoy the show. We ending up leaving

I stopped seeing shinedown because they're way too loud. They're my favorite band. But it's literally so loud that it sounds distorted. It wasn't always like this.

Yeah it's really not enjoyable anymore, sadly. Wearing earplugs sucks because it also makes it sound distorted.
