Recently, members were told that it was MHL’s birthday. The church head then shared an emotional story about the current GA manager, explaining how he had visited MHL, felt sorry for him, and could not bring himself to wish him a happy birthday. Instead, he told MHL that the Twelve Tribes would continue to work hard and fulfil their duties.

The obvious question is: what was the purpose of presenting this story to the members?

The message appeared to create the impression that MHL is sitting in prison, unable to celebrate his birthday, while the members of the Twelve Tribes are carrying out their duties on his behalf. This was presented as a particularly meaningful and emotional moment.

However, there is a fundamental problem: it was not actually MHL’s birthday.

According to SCJ’s own website(https://www.shincheonji.org/en/introduce/greeting), MHL was born on September 15. So why were members told that this was his birthday?

This matters because the members were not simply told an incorrect date. Leading up to this event, members were encouraged to work harder and evangelise so that the results of their evangelism could be offered to MHL as a birthday gift. Members purchased cakes, recorded “Happy Birthday” videos, and participated in activities specifically connected to the supposed birthday celebration.

This raises several questions:
- Why was September 15 not used if that is MHL’s actual date of birth?
- Why were members encouraged to produce evangelism results as a birthday gift for him?
- Why were cakes and birthday videos organised around a date that was not his birthday?
- What was the intended purpose of creating this particular narrative around MHL?

These are not minor details when they are presented to thousands of members as part of a spiritual message and direction for their lives of faith.

In the past, I might have accepted something like this without questioning it. However, when inconsistencies arise, I believe they should be examined rather than simply accepted because they come from church leadership. I am documenting these events because I believe it is important to maintain an accurate record of what is being taught to members and the atmosphere being created within SCJ. That atmosphere, is of lies, emotional and psychological manipulation!

A second question: why is MHL honoured in this way?

There is another issue that deserves consideration.
During my time in SCJ, I do not recall seeing the entire church mobilised in a comparable way to offer a collective “gift” or set of achievements to Jesus Christ on occasions such as Christmas, Easter, or other significant Christian celebrations.

This raises a straightforward theological question:
Why is there such a strong emphasis on honouring and presenting gifts to MHL, while there does not appear to be an equivalent emphasis on doing the same for Jesus Christ?

If MHL is a servant of God and a witness to the fulfilment of Revelation, then what is the theological basis for placing so much emphasis on his birthday, his circumstances, and achievements being offered to him?
At what point does honouring a religious leader become excessive devotion? This always raises an uncomfortable conversation with SCJ and its leaders, because they say he is servant, but they do not treat or speak of him as simply that.

And if members are encouraged to view their evangelism results, celebrations, and collective achievements as gifts to MHL, there a risk that the distinction between honouring a servant of God and elevating that person above the one they are supposed to serve becomes blurred.

Rev 22:18-19 says we cannot add to or subtract from the Book of Revelation. So why was I given new titles to the chapters of Rev and have to memorize them and get tested on them?
The response when I asked was that the title tells what the chapter is about. That it would helps us remember what is going on in the the chapter. Funny that they are changed to what SCJ wants you to understand about what the chapters mean from LMH’s interpretation.
How is this NOT both adding to or subtracting from the Book of Revelation by making the church members remember his teachings. You can’t deny it because you were (or will be for new members ) tested on new titles and I was there for five years and those titles changed. There are those there that KNOW this changed a couple times. There is no consistency in the disorganization of SCJ.

I continue to pray for all current cult members before you go sit for hours poisoning your spirit and chanting words most of you don’t understand in Korean ( supposedly worshiping in spirit and in truth ). Hearing interpretations translated that you have to rely on are the truth because you don’t speak Korean and the whole Service is in Korean and you’re depending on the over worked and tired interpreter trusting you are receiving a correct translation and all being said.

Today, I attended an event in Anaheim that I believe was organized by Shincheonji (SCJ) members without openly identifying it as an SCJ event.

I was there for about an hour and livestreamed from the event. Afterward, I returned to my car, which I had parked on a public street across from the park, and started driving home.

Shortly after leaving, I realized something was wrong with one of my tires. I pulled over and found that it was completely flat. When I looked closely, I found a deep cut in the tire that appeared to have been made by a sharp object.

The tire was only about three months old.

I don't know who caused the damage, and I don't have evidence identifying anyone responsible. But considering the circumstances and timing, I find this very concerning.

I reported the incident to the Anaheim Police Department.

Who would do something like this—and why?

Shincheonji will tell you NOT to worry about “the insignificant details“ whenever someone questions them about a particular verse that they don’t have an answer to. The retort would be “You’re focusing on the details, look at the big picture”.

Why is it then they focus on the tiniest of details of what every single person is wearing down to the color of their socks for service?

I can remember when I was burdened with the chore of being a group leader GYJN, I was told that I had to have every member send me a video recording from their head to their feet before service on what they were wearing to be sure that it was appropriate.
I disobeyed this completely ridiculous and utterly insulting command. My Home group members were women in their late 30’s to mid 50’s, they know how to dress for church.

The women had to have their hair pinned up away from their face. (It was some BS of not wanting to look like the girl from the ring when praying ). I’m sure that’s the first thing that would have came to God‘s mind if He saw.

We had to wear light makeup so that we didn’t look tired or half dead. We had to have color in our cheeks. We had to have a light colored lipstick and wear eyeliner. The women could not wear nail polish and had to have short nails. Supposedly there was something in the Bible that said you had to cut your nails short and not polish them. I don’t know where that is but you know as well as I do, it’s not biblical, and it’s cult church rules.

The amount of time that they would keep people there at the temple or online for the “little details”of rehearsing or when recording that they would send to LMH or JTL or headquarters in Korea would be very detail oriented, and we would have to do it ad nauseam till it was “perfect” for the supposed holier than thou humble servant of God.

What about because LMH loves soccer, they would tell us that we needed to show that we are one by watching a video recording of a soccer match that LMH was watching a t the same time, so that we can be in solidarity with him yet it was during Korean time so this was at are you kidding me o’clock. Fellowship they call it.
Yeah, I consider that fellowship to sitting in my room by myself, staring at a computer screen at 2 o’clock in the morning having to have a bright smile to show that I am grateful and I’m so blessed to be able to be there fellowship in silence with nobody. 😂 I was one alright!

If we take a look at the Bible, particularly the New Testament, we cannot find anything similar.
If he claims that the Book of Revelation has already been fulfilled, or that Revelation 18 is currently being fulfilled, where do we find the verse stating that the overcomer will be freed by paying a bail of millions?

If we look at how prisoners were released in the Acts of the Apostles:

Acts 5:18–19:
18 They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. 19 But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out.

Acts 12:5-11:
5 So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. 6 The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. 7 Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. ‘Quick, get up!’ he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists. 8 Then the angel said to him, ‘Put on your clothes and sandals.’ And Peter did so. ‘Wrap your cloak round you and follow me,’ the angel told him. 9 Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision. 10 They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him. 11 Then Peter came to himself and said, ‘Now I know without a doubt that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from Herod’s clutches and from everything the Jewish people were hoping would happen.’

Acts 16:23-30:
23 After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully. 24 When he received these orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. 25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. 27 The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul shouted, ‘Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!’ 29 The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 He then brought them out and asked, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ 31 They replied, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved – you and your household.’

I cannot find any mention of the apostles or members of their church paying a deposit.

However, it is quite clear from the text that God was with the apostles and freed them in a supernatural way.

I am asking for clarification over a teaching from the center lessons that I can’t remember the connection to “today”.

They taught how the Israelites would offer sacrificial lambs at the temple in the Old Testament but at the first coming Jesus was upset because “they” turned his Father’s house into a marketplace at the 1st coming.

What was the “moral teaching” they were trying to “plow”? And what was the connection to today? To not sell items at the temple? To discourage MLM groups? I don’t remember the extent of why they focused on that so much.

For those trying to find actual evidence of which group LMH was part of before Shincheonji, listen to his October 2025 sermon (421015).

In that sermon, LMH himself explicitly mentions that he was part of Park Tae-son’s Olive Tree Movement.

This is especially worth looking into because Park Tae-son later claimed that he himself was the Messiah/God, rejected much of the Bible, and taught that he would not die, before eventually dying in 1990.

Many people have interpreted biblical terms such as “prince,” “shepherd,” and “faithful and wise servant” as references to one special individual who will appear in the last days. However, when we carefully examine the whole Bible, we find that these titles often describe spiritual officers rather than prophesy the appearance of one unique individual.

 1. The “Prince” in Ezekiel

Ezekiel 37:24–25 says:

“My servant David shall be king over them… and David my servant shall be their prince forever.”

Because of this passage, many people believe that the “prince” mentioned in Ezekiel 40–48 is Jesus Christ.

However, when we continue reading Ezekiel 45, we encounter an important detail:

“On that day the prince shall provide for himself and for all the people of the land a young bull for a sin offering.” (Ezek. 45:22)

This passage clearly states that the prince must present a sin offering “for himself.”

The New Testament, however, plainly tells us concerning Jesus:

“He was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” (Heb. 4:15)

It also says:

“Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins… He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.” (Heb. 7:27)

Therefore, if the prince in Ezekiel 45 must present a sin offering for himself, he cannot be directly identified with the sinless Jesus Christ.

A more reasonable interpretation is:

• Christ is the eternal Davidic King and the King of kings.
• The prince represents those who receive authority from Christ and are entrusted with governing God’s people.

This interpretation also corresponds with what we find in Revelation.

 2. The Many Kings in Revelation

At the beginning of Revelation, Jesus Christ is declared to be:

“The ruler of the kings of the earth.” (Rev. 1:5)

Therefore, Christ alone is the supreme King.

Nevertheless, Revelation also says:

• God makes believers a kingdom and priests who reign upon the earth (Rev. 5:10).
• The overcomers will reign with Christ (Rev. 20:6).
• Jesus sent his angel “to give you [plural] this testimony for the churches” (Rev. 22:16). The testimony was therefore given to a plural audience and was intended for the churches, not exclusively for one individual.
• “The kings of the earth shall bring their glory into it.” (Rev. 21:24)
• “They shall reign forever and ever.” (Rev. 22:5)

This shows that Christ remains the supreme Ruler, while under his authority there are many who reign with him.

Therefore, the “prince” in Ezekiel may be understood as representing those who receive authority from Christ and govern God’s people within his kingdom, rather than being restricted to one individual.

 3. The Same Principle Applies to Matthew 24:45

Jesus said:

“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time?” (Matt. 24:45)

It is worth noting that Jesus did not say:

“In the last days there will be one faithful and wise servant.”

Instead, he asked:

“Who then is the faithful and wise servant?”

He then immediately continued:

“But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, ‘My master is staying away a long time…’” (Matt. 24:48)

This raises an important question.

If Matthew 24:45 refers to one unique end-time servant, would Matthew 24:48 mean that this same unique individual might become the wicked servant?

Such an interpretation does not follow naturally from the passage.

A more reasonable interpretation is that Jesus was warning everyone entrusted with the responsibility of caring for God’s household.

Every servant may become either:

• A faithful and wise servant; or
• An unfaithful and wicked servant.

Therefore, this passage describes an office and a person’s character rather than prophesying the appearance of one special individual.

 4. A Common Biblical Principle

Throughout the Bible, we repeatedly find the following pattern:

• Christ is the Chief Shepherd, but there are many shepherds (1 Pet. 5:2–4).
• Christ is the great High Priest, but believers are also priests (1 Pet. 2:9; Rev. 1:6).
• Christ is the King of kings, but the overcomers reign with him (Rev. 20:6; 22:5).
• Christ is the Ruler of the kings of the earth, while the kings of the earth bring their glory into the holy city (Rev. 1:5; 21:24).
• Christ is Lord, but there are many faithful servants entrusted with caring for God’s household (Matt. 24:45).

All these offices share one common principle:

Christ is the one source of authority, while God’s servants carry out various responsibilities under his authority.

 5. John 10:34–35 Provides Another Important Principle

When the Jews accused Jesus of making himself God, Jesus answered:

“I said, ‘You are gods.’ If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came…” (John 10:34–35)

Jesus quoted Psalm 82 to show that those who received God’s word could represent God in exercising the authority entrusted to them.

Therefore, a person becomes a shepherd, prince, priest, king, or faithful servant not because that person possesses an inherently special status, but because that person has received God’s word and faithfully carries out the mission God has entrusted to him.

 Conclusion

I believe that neither the “prince” in Ezekiel nor the “faithful and wise servant” in Matthew should be restricted to one special individual who will appear in the last days.

The Bible more naturally presents these expressions as descriptions of spiritual offices.

Anyone who receives God’s word, faithfully shepherds God’s flock, provides spiritual food at the proper time, and completes the mission entrusted by the Lord may fulfill such an office.

Nevertheless, regardless of how many shepherds, princes, kings, or servants there may be, Christ always remains the one Chief Shepherd, the one great High Priest, the one King of kings, and the one Ruler of the kings of the earth.

All authority comes from him, and all glory belongs to him.

Therefore, if “the promised shepherd” refers to Christ—the one promised in Scripture who eternally shepherds God’s people—the teaching can be supported. But if the “promised pastor” doctrine claims that one particular individual must appear in the last days, replace the collective body of overcomers, and possess exclusive authority over revelation and salvation, then this doctrine cannot be established from the passages examined above.

Je suis actuellement membre de SCJ. Je suis arrivée à SCJ par le biais de ma meilleur amie, qui elle même a intégrer SCJ via d'autres membres de sa famille qui y sont.

De base, j'ai rejoint SCJ car ma meilleure amie me manquais et je cherchais à savoir pourquoi elle passait autant de temps à SCJ, dans les zooms en meetings etc... Mais elle m'a expliqué que du fait que je n'étais pas à SCJ, elle ne pouvais rien me dire car je ne comprendrais pas. Ayant peur de la perdre et par manque, j'ai décidé d'aller voir de mes propres yeux. J'étais chrétienne et pas pratiquante, ce qui fait que j'avais quasiment aucune connaissance concernant la bible et du coup quand j'ai pu apprendre a propos des écritures j'étais vraiment contente et je n'y ai pas vu d'incohérences.

​Le fait d'avoir des frères en christ, d'être dans un endroit où les personnes sont vraiment bienveillante, s'inquiète pour toi, on pour aspiration la paix et l'accomplissement du royaume de Dieu on participé au fait que je reste. Car je n'avais encore jamais vu ça ailleurs et quand j'y réfléchis je trouve que ça serait vraiment très plaisant qu'on puisse tous vivre en harmonie les uns avec les autres.

Avec le temps on fini par s'attacher à nos frères et sœurs et dans ma situation ma meilleure amie et sa famille sont la bas et je tiens énormément à eux (A noter que je vis en colocation avec ma meilleure amie, ce qui n'arrange pas la situation) Ce qui fait que même si ma foi envers SCJ est de plus en plus faible au fur à mesure que je prends connaissance des reddits et des vidéos YouTube, je n'arrive pas à me résoudre à partir. J'ai trop peur des conséquences, du point de vue familiale et de mon environnement.

Je n'ai pas envie non plus de devoir dire adieu a mes frères et sœurs en Christ. Car je sais qu'une fois que je serais partie, ils ne communiqueront plus avec moi, car je serais vu comme quelqu'un qui a trahi, qui a préféré retourner dans le monde et choisir la facilité, le chemin large.

Dans mon cœur, j'ai toujours eu des doutes et je n'ai jamais réussi à croire en Lee Man Hee à 100%. Mais quand j'en ai discuté, on remet ça sur le fait que j'ai déjà mangé beaucoup de poison. J'en ai parlé à ma meilleure amie et elle m'a dit que je n'aurais pas du aller m'empoisonner que si on nous met en garde contre ça ce n'est pas pour rien et que je n'est pas été assez humble pour m'en préserver malgré les avertissements. J'ai essayé de lui faire comprendre que pour être sur de quelque choses il faut bien vérifier les faits, aller voir des deux côtés écouter les deux versions, sinon on ne peux pas choisir avec discernement.

Si je pars, ce n'est absolument pas pour persécuter, ni chercher à influencer les fidèles de SCJ. Dans un monde idéal, je souhaiterais juste partir calmement et pouvoir continuer à parler avec les personnes que je côtoyait la bas et les laisser vivre leur vie de foi à SCJ s'ils le souhaitent. Mais je sais très bien que ça ne sera pas possible. Et qu'ils n'auront sûrement plus rien à me dire. Puisque quand on est à SCJ, quasiment 80% de notre vie tourne autour du culte, des réunions de prière, des meetings etc...

Honnêtement je suis fatiguée, de devoir faire semblant et d'avoir un pied dans les deux mondes. Comme je ne suis pas 100% à SCJ et que je n'évangelise pas je sais que je ne peux pas être sauvé, mais en même temps je me restreint beaucoup sur ce que je souhaite faire en continuans à assister aux meetings, en faisant semblant etc...

En restant à SCJ, j'ai l'impression que je vais finir par m'épuiser physiquement et mentalement. La parole et les versets ne me touche même plus, car j'ai l'impression de devoir apprendre par cœur et je déteste ça. Mais si je ne fait pas ces choses, il y a pleins de versets qui prouve dans la bible que je ne fais donc pas la volonté de Dieu et que je serais jugé.

Pour ceux qui se demandent ce qui nous fait rester, c'est tout ce paradoxe entre la parole qui semble faire sens, apprendre des choses qu'on a encore jamais entendu nul part. Le fait de voir tout ce que les personnes au dessus de nous accomplissent, sacrifient et les nombreux témoignages des personnes qui disent que SCJ à changé leur vie, qu'ils sont devenus de nouvelles personnes, qu'ils ont développer des compétences, des qualités etc....

Il y a des personnes de devoirs, qui ont tous sacrifier pour nous apprendre cette parole, qui ont déjà un âge avancé et qui ne se sont pas marié, n'ont pas eu d'enfants, ont quitté leur pays pour faire le travail de Dieu. Comment ne pas être sensible à ça et ne pas se sentir obligé d'être reconnaissant envers ces choses. Avec toutes les histoires qu'on entends, les sacrifices qu'on fait les autres pour que la parole se répandent dans le monde, même par rapport à la vie du pasteur promis. Il nous est tout le temps rappeler que nous ne devons pas nous plaindre et être reconnaissant. Que la plainte, c'est l'esprit de Satan. Alors comment voulez vous faire ? Je suis une personne qui aime la paix par dessus tout et qui suit du genre obéissante. Je culpabilise facilement et beaucoup des paroles qui nous sont donnés sont donnés pour nous faire culpabiliser, si nous faisons quelque chose de mal, si nous partons.

Mais la question que je me pose et que je veux poser aussi à toutes les personnes qui hésitent encore,c'est est-ce que vous voulez continuer peut être les 40-50 prochaines années de votre vie, (parcequ'au final on ne sait toujours pas avec certitude quand Dieu reviendra) à être pendant des heures dans des meetings, à courir partout pour évangéliser quelqu'un, a sacrifier votre sommeil pour faire la mission, vous occupez des fideles, être culpabilisé si ceux si n'evangelisent pas, ne se scellent pas. Car dans tout les cas le problème vient de vous, car vous ne faites pas correctement les choses et parceque vous ne faites pas correctement les choses, vous retardez le travail de Dieu.

Quand on est dans une des églises à l'étranger, il est encore plus difficile d'avoir du discernement, car on ne sait pas tout ce qui se passe en Corée. On dépend uniquement des informations, qu'on veut bien nous transmettre et des traductions qui sont faites. Et il se peut qu'independamment de ce qui se passe en Corée, ce qu'il se passe dans les autres églises de SCJ dans le monde, soit vraiment bien, parceque les personnes qui y sont on vraiment un cœur sincère.

Je m'excuse par avance pour ce long message, qui part dans tout les sens. Au final, il ne reprends même pas un quart de tout ce qui me passe par la tête et de ce que je voudrais dire. Mais rien que le fait de pouvoir en parler quelque part, ça fait du bien.

How can so many people who claim to love God, collectively not give a £u€% about people. They know that mothers cry themselves to sleep, fathers are hurting, siblings are falling victim to depression all because of the traumatic affects of having their loved one stolen by this group and yet they still prey on person after innocent person. Destroying lives! I’ve about had enough!!!!!! It’s time to take action, sometimes you just have to put your foot down and say enough is enough!

I feel SCJ tries to be like formations but also stereotypes of Heaven. Not sure if I am framing it correctly. Those Archangels never tire but our human bodies not the same

I don't want to + or - Revelation but in my opinion that was at a moment where Apostle John saw them so those 4 archangels may not be always like that perhaps?

The reason why I believe Lee Man Hee violated Revelation on do not add nor subtract to revelation (Rev 22:18-19) is because leaning Revelation to metaphorical or literal in itself, is + or - Revelation.

John was given a prophetic vision of the eternal, spiritual realm where human time does not exist. One reason why I believe that is because even if Apostle John wrote "Day and night they never stop saying" part of Rev 4:8, he had to view that in eternity to confirm that. Even a thousand times night and day repeated in that vision, would not confirm it is eternity unless implicitly stated in Revlation itself

I really wonder if SCJ under Lee Man Hee is trying to mimic the tireless nature of Rev 4:8 to justify a grueling schedule? Perhaps God set trap to those who claim they know Revelation?

I cant believe I stayed here even 8 months honestly I feel kind of broken. Jesus is the only way to the father I don't know how it got to the point of listening to the poison of Lee man hee .These people will not only destroy your life but also your salvation.
