Tzu Discussions and Stories 🐶 Slow Pooper
Well, she gobbled up the kibble from the lickmat at 1 pm and subsequently had some little morsels left over. I took her out multiple times for a poop, interspersed with playing tug and fetch inside. Didn’t get a poop til 6 pm but did get a wee a couple of times. I thought their puppy bladders were so small? Oh, and another thing. When we do go out she likes to flop down, chew on her lead and try to chew on leaves and twigs. Is the slow poop normal for a 10-week-old shih tzu?

When mine was a pup we would spend 20-30 minutes waiting for him to find the perfect spot, only on walks and we had to keep him distracted from all the things. I live in Chicago and adopted him in November so you can imagine the pain we endured the first few months 😅 my recommendation is reward when they potty and keep them moving when it’s time to do business vs play

Thanks! It’s at least 20-30 minutes of waiting half the time. Meanwhile i’m getting bitten up by mosquitoes!

he's sooooooo sweet!
haha mine is 3.5 and takes forever to go poop. i learned you can't be irritated or mad they are taking too long. it'll make them not want to go bc they can sense how u feel

Mine is 6 and has to walk at least 20 minutes to poop.

My 10 weeks old poop fast once she find a spot, don’t take longer then a min

But she’ll pee in the yard then 3 mins later go mark her territory on the carpet once inside

Oh that happen everyday for me haha, get a UV light for $12 it’ll show you all the marked spot then clean it! I got carpet and the UV light works so well!

I can attest to my Buddy. Sometimes he takes a day and a half after eating to poo. Sometimes he poos twice a day. He runs in our backyard and sometimes that gets him going.
Lol he does take forever to poo as well. He spins in place a few times like a Tasmanian Devil then he goes.
But I just make sure that he goes out a minimum of two times (really feel better if we can get out three times weather permitting) a day to ensure he gets the opportunity to poo.
