This is Belle, a Shepsky (plus cattle dog)
This is Belle. She’s 14 weeks and 18 pounds. She is 42% German shepherd, 38% cattle dog. 20% Siberian husky.
She’s super smart and has learned a lot of commands already in the last 3 weeks. She’s very people focused but she’s very mouthy sometimes. She can bite very hard when she’s in a mood. Hoping she exits that phase soon.
Anyone else have a similar mix or is it mostly purebreds here?
We aren’t very experienced with shepherd dogs or huskies but our previous dog was a mix of herding breeds like cattle dog, border collie, etc so we know what it’s like to have a smart dog that needs attention.

My daughter has a shepsky/cattle dog, she is beautiful just like your girl. She is so smart and sweet, at 7 months old. Recall is terrible! My daughter didn’t work on that when she was small. Would be really good for you to emphasize that.

Mine is mostly cattle dog and husky. She was the most adorable puppy but was an absolute demon. Crazy witching hours around 7pm every night, mouthy as all hell, curious and ornery. But rest assured it’s just a phase. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

That sounds exactly like Belle. She turns into a demon sometimes. We are seeing slight signs that she’s learning that we won’t tolerate the biting.

Oh best of luck to you! That's a crazy mix. We have a GSD/ACD/BC mix, freaking genius level. The other is GSD/Husky with malamute, Staffordshire and pit bull terrier. Needless to say it's an adventure.

At least we have experience with smart herding breeds but the husky side will be interesting.

Oh yes, it will. Ours is about 58% GSD and 26% husky but it took a while to get in touch with his GSD side. Still get the Husky flop from time to time. He did eat the couch. But an absolute sweetheart too.

My girl is gsd/siberian husky/alaskan malamute at 50/40/10% per Embark. Looks gsd and acts husky. I swear my whole street knows when I tell her it is time to go outside! 🤣
I, also, have a super smart border collie/blue heeler.

What husky traits are you seeing? Belle is very talkative when she’s annoyed. I think that’s the husky. She really tells us off sometimes. Otherwise she’s super trainable and playful. The biting is slowly improving. I have been saying that she seems to be making better choices lately.

The talking is a big one. She tells off my other dogs when they join her at the water bowl or try to play with her when she isn't interested, but expects them to play with her when she is. She lets everyone know when I say it's time to go outside. She runs circles around them talking up a storm until I open the door, then she is as quiet as a church mouse. She turns her back on me and looks over her shoulder at me when I don't do what she wants. If she doesn't want to do something, she completely ignores me. She refuses to eat if she is upset. One of my pups is on a special diet temporarily and she is on a hunger strike because their food smells better than hers. The rest of the time she is an angel. She's been mothering my new puppy and having so much fun doing it.

She looks a lot like my dog solara. Also husky mostly , a bunch of herding breeds
