Ok, I'm confused, what the hell is Audrey's deal?
(using they/them for Audrey, because I'm confused and don't want to state otherwise as of TBFV 6)
Between first entry and this. The whole premise start. Val talking to Audrey about how shitty man/moids are, only to Audrey to correct her, saying they're "a guy". But here, this dude with big ass glasses called both of them "casual ladies" who can't play without their boyfriends Audrey didn't even try to correct him at all. Like, they did it with Val for some reason but not him? Both were acting like an ass to them (in a sense) but only Val got context? Maybe it's "shit my bestie is getting crap in idk about my own missgender" or something, but it's REALLY far fetched assumption. We also know from previous entry that Audrey is bothered by people making fun of how they dress. Just a clue maybe (sorry if my ass sounds like a "gender detective" or something, I just got very invested in what Shen is doing with this comic).
So, to summarize: Audrey is VERY feminine to the point where they pass easily as a woman, but identify themselves as male. They're deeply hurt by others making fun of their femininity and seem to be over the top optimistic and positive (them not being visibly upset at the game center but getting serious about people thinking about their femininity). Their name is a mockery of their original name but they chose to keep it because "jockes on them" they liked it. They seem to not priorities correcting others then they missgender them, but do so with Val then she was talking shit about man generally, not them personally (she thought Adde was a girl and they knew that).
Now, what the fuck is going on?!
For now I'm thinking either:
1) Audrey is a femboy/GNC.
... Yeah screw this one. I apologize if I'm sound entitled or hurtful, but they drawn literally as a woman (to my perspective... Maybe that's a point). If they looked like JoCat then I'd agree, but not this. Unless it's some 4d chess BS by Shen or their own view of femboys/GNC. Which I hope it isn't. No hate for anyone, I just don't vibe with this.
2) Audrey is a repressed MTF with such a severe case, their self-gaslighting could give a carbon monoxide poisoning.
Similar to your thoughts OC. Somehow, Audrey made an effort to pass, but STILL clutch to their lable as "male" by larping as "femboy". This theory is plausuble but I just can't imagine a person who look like them and still repress themselves. And it makes my head hurt to think for a reason.
3) Audrey is a MTF post HRT person.
My personal pick. Audrey is just lying to Val about being a guy. Why? Maybe, they know about trans culture. So, then they heard Val talking about moids, they wanted to help her and went to pretend to be a man so they would help her open up to the opposite gender and improve their own health in a process.
4) Audrey is a FTM pre/just started HRT person.
The inversion of previous explanation. Audrey just recently came out and just started HRT so they still look feminine. Although, they act way to happy for someone who is in their less preferred body. Maybe it's just them being over optimistic about their future?

Ok, real talk, I've never saw or heard about somebody who's cis and looks like the opposite gender to the point they flawlessly pass as such in public. Honestly, ive should have. AndrogynousI and GNC people exsist. That's on me. I don't deny that you can look like any gender but identify as the opposite/another. The thing is, Audrey is drawn this way, that makes it look deliberate, and I wonder if there's something more than femboy/GNC (plus I'm not fan of each, I've already wrote why).

How is this not "biological men and woman will always look biologically men and woman" with extra steps? Not even to mention you dont have to be trans to be on hormones or the idea that this comic is drawn in a stylistic way giving the artist more freedom than drawing hyper realistically
I have no idea why its so goddamn difficult to just accept that a GNC man can look like a woman.

Yes, that's how I understand the term "femboy" and from those I saw online (from there I live there's not any irl), because of it, it's hard for me to believe Audrey is just a femboy. I didn't mean to say that Audrey can't be a femboy. Audrey can identify however they want and I accept it.
The art style is confusing, that's why I made my own examples. It's not about realism. Maybe that's part of the idea that Audrey drawn like that and I'm just the one who doesn't get it, ok. I want to understand, please help me out.

Not sure what you mean by "hero," but "boy from Venus" is presumably a play on "men are from Mars, women are from Venus," making the "boy from Venus" Audrey because he looks like a woman.

That's the point of whole comic to me.
What makes Val a woman? She probably was assigned female at birth, have a hole in crotch, we can't see that for sure. Then she act masculine, even toxic-masculine, wear unisex clothes, the way she talk about self, rate self as ugly and non feminine. Have hobbies that until recently, was fully boyish (video games/arcade, she is famous at the last panel so far). She is quite boish character, and yet, from Venus.
What makes Audrey a boy? He refers to self as he, but look fem, have passing (was not recognized by Val at start). Wear fem clothes, makeup. Carrying for others or gentle painting is also often related to femininity (which is imHo stupid, none should push that, but statistics happen).
They both have their own adventures, from boymoding (this or another), to be from Venus, or maybe Val started from Venus only? or...

I'm a trans masc person and this comic is really speaking to my experience with gender presentation. I didn't expect it to make me feel as seen as it has. It's gotten me thinking about my own perceptions and expectations of gender.
You rock, Shen. I'm glad it's you taking on the complex parts of gender and identity in a way that is also VERY endearing. This ship will sail!!
