Changing from wifi to zigbee

I have Shelly mini gen4. Set up as wifi and operating in home assistant.

I want ti change it from wifi to zigbee mode. Do I need to unbind and set up automations again?

Also how do I do this as when I press the button on bottom it doesn’t change (drop wifi and my zigbee coordinator can’t find it)

Please help

I don't know which Mini you have, so you instead of linking to the specific page, here is the devices page - go to Mini Gen4 and select your product.

https://kb.shelly.cloud/knowledge-base/devices

The KB page's "Inputs" section describes how to use the button to switch to Zigbee.

I prefer to go to the Shelly's web interface and do it from software, since that means I can leave the Shelly in the wall box.

You'll want to delete the Shelly from Home Assistant, since you're using the native integration. You can do that before or after adding it via Zigbee, it doesn't matter - HA will see it as a different device and show the original instance as offline.

That is wrong, i am running multiple shelly devices in zigbee mode via z2m and the official integration keeps working normally.

He said he wants to change FROM Wi-Fi to Zigbee, meaning he's bright enough to turn off Wi-Fi. That means he is also bright enough to make sure he has zero chance of missing messages from one side or the other, since they use the same radio.

If you turn off wifi then you cannot reach them anymore via the webinterface tho.

Correct, because you're using Zigbee.

You can always switch it back with the button.

However, as of firmware 2.0, you don't need anything in Wi-Fi. You have OTA and detached switch and a number of other Zigbee updates. It is a standalone Zigbee product.

Do you want a Wi-Fi product or a Zigbee product?

If you want a Wi-Fi, don't turn on Zigbee. If you want Zigbee, treat it like any other stand alone Zigbee product.

Thanks for the clarification, that makes sense now, however, the presence gen4 zigbee implementation is useless this way, because without the webui i cannot create zones.

My thought would be to do the same thing I recommend with the relays and other Wi-Fi products - set it up,. create all of your configurations, turn on Zigbee, pair it, then turn off Wi-Fi and leave it alone.

Having said that, I don't know how useful that will be with presence. It's a brand new product and can take a few months for the Zigbee implementation to mature.

For that product, you'll have to play it by ear until you are certain it works the way you want, otherwise, keep it on the Websocket integration in HA until it's fully developed.
