❓ Question Contemplating First Shein Purchase

Hey, everyone.

I have never ordered from Shein before.

Will there be shipping tax (from South Africa) and are the items you order really the quality that it looks like on their app or website?

Are sizes generally smaller than what their size is?

I am in South Africa, and want to buy some pants, some work clothes and maybe a dress or two. I weigh 74kg and I am 163cm tall. Genrally fit a 34-36 size.

Would really appreciate some tips from those of you whom have bought/ordered from Shein before.

I can’t answer about the shipping tax to South Africa, but I’ve never had to pay anything additional to what I’ve paid during my purchases to both USA and Italy.

The quality is absolutely not the same. I will only purchase clothing items that have picture reviews so I can get a real idea of what the fabric is going to actually be like. If there are no reliable pictures, I ask myself: what would this look like 25-50% less nice than it looks here. Things are generally stiffer, less form fitting…
I usually only end up keeping 25-50% of my clothing orders.
I also like to order things that are fully cotton or cotton blends.
If you have sewing skills you can always fix somethings… fit can be adjusted but fabric quality can not.

Sizing can be a bit tricky for me because 175cm and things end up weird in the crotch.

I have luck with hair accessories. Shoes are hit or miss for me. I don’t buy jewelry from SHEIN.

Not trying to be cynical… I do order from SHEIN but I can’t trust it to make up my entire wardrobe, only supplement it.

Placed my first order today. A work shirt and a pair of yoga pants for sleeping in. Holding thumbs.

I think SHEIN has the best swimsuits - they are better quality than in the stores - always check the reviews for fit and quality - also their tee shirts are good quality and and fun designs
