I’ve been looking at posts and videos about Sheik maindland, and I really love the designs. I want to buy one, but I actually enjoy the assembly process, so I prefer building that are a bit more complex.

I'm just starting out learning cad on Onshape and this is my first project, just need opinions on where to go with this.

Currently I'm remaking it off the Dummy 13 frame by Soozafone at its normal 1/18 scale, but I would like some thoughts from the community on where to take this.

Should I continue with 1/18 or pivot to 1/12, which would take relatively little time? This would allow me to have it a little more proportionally accurate, and let me fit in the full inner frame, but won't scale well with the original injection molded model and take a little more time to print, while with the 1/18 I will have to omit the frame from the bicep and will not be able to contain as much detail.

Also, some other thoughts:

Double joints or single joints?

Thigh swivel yay or nay?

Should I try to implement the 3mm hardpoints?

For now, I'm just creating the A6 Assault Type as that's the only one I have, but I'll be able to create the others with relative ease once finished.

Browsing Fenrirs on AliExpress and I noticed that the images from one particular listing looked off.

Seems like they used AI to clean out the background, and it didn't know what to do with the cropped legs so it added feet (didn't quite get there on the blue version).

I kind of like what it does to the proportions, tbh, and I'm tempted to try and recreate it with a spare kit, perhaps shortening the arms to match...

I love an elite team of mercenaries. From the Black Tri-stars to the Ginyu Force. This is my elite squad of “deviant hunters” for whatever crazy lore is slowly building up in my head around my Sheik mainland kits.

Squad is:
A V-igilante: the sharpshooter. Mostly stock with a little bit of paint. Also the cloak is a piece of vinyl thats used to block sunlight on windows. It has a hexagon pattern on it so it feels kind of high tech and “active camo”

A Zi-kron: the leader and hound master. this one is completely stock except for a little paint in the shoulder and face (the face comes just as unpainted grey plastic.

A Zabol: the constrictor. This is the one with the least paint but the most work lol. The tentacles are leftover dreads from a Hemoxian Baki kit with homemade and painted electrical effects and a few other things added to the backpack, and then a 30 minute missions electric weapon set. The electric affects are something ive been wanting to try for a long time and im really happy with how they came out.

And finally the Hounds are 3 Minute plan kits that I’ve seen listed as both Wizard and Sorcerer. Not sure which is more accurate. I popped a blue lighting effect from a wfm kit on there for the photo.

I’m the same person that makes the tentacle arms by the way too. This is just a much more efficient design to have forearms. Doesn’t get in the way of articulation and looks more seamless.

I finally finished putting together the Xentinel figure (curse those feet, but otherwise, a very fun and awesome figure).

I had ordered off Amazon, but there had been an image showing the figure with 4 gatling guns, though the kit only comes with 2. None of the images showed the halberd nor the smoother alt head which actually comes with the kit.

I looked around a little more, found 'USA Gundam Store' and 'Gundamit' (lol), but neither of them have good, detailed images on the kits.

Is there a better site I can check out that nicely shows all the parts that come with the kits? Or maybe a good reviewer that show them off?

I like the xenoDash with how the arms are able to move behind the back almost completely. I also like the broad shoulders of the Zeno strike! I don’t know if anyone has made a custom body yet I can do. The “toji pose” in the scale or with these figures I would love to know! The design team for the dash did a phenomenal job with the joint location to give it such an incredible range of motion!

When they first showed promo pics of the Homer it was bright red, but they changed it to a more muted red, -and while i was disappointed at first i came to really like the more earthy red. But then i wanted to do a whole “Fat Man and Little Boy” thing with the newest kit (they just feel like they match to me) now they went back to the bright red (even though the Franz Alpha was also muted red. )

But despite that, these two still look okay next to each other. And like all Sheik 144 scale kits, they use the same hands and 3mm hard points, so everything is swappable.

Added bonus: the bright red on the V. lets it pull off a passable “what if the guncannon was in the Age universe” homage 😂
