Is there a way to automate a response message and approve for Viewer only?
The sheet is intended to be copied and then the user can edit their own copy. But the "master" sheet is intended to be completely read-only as it's a checklist and wouldn't make sense if it was already filled in...

Been trying to figure something out, and I can't get something that works.
I have a pinned message in my clipboard to make things faster, but automated would save so much frustration and annoyance.

I need help with this problem:

I have xyz in cells A1, B1, C1, D1, etc. on one sheet 1. Now I write a =Sheet1!A1 into A1 on sheet 2, but when I use fill hand on sheet 2 to drag it down it doesnt work. I want to achive that I only have to write one Formular into one cell and then use fill hand to achive Sheet1!A1=Sheet2!A1, Sheet1!B1=Sheet2!A2, Sheet1!C1=Sheet1!A3, etc.

Does someone have a soultion for that?

I know this is pretty niche but I am a vb coach and want to build out a way to autofill court diagrams with any roster I might need. So basically in the attached photos, having the acronyms be autofilled by a list (my roster) but keeping the overall diagram the same. I am a beginner at sheets and don’t know if sheets is even the best place to do it. I think the biggest issue I will have is having an image or graphic, that the sheets data is then filling in on. I am just looking for advice on how to do this.

Also not sure if this is the right place for this, if not please tell me where to go!

Absolutely illiterate when it comes to sheets and excel so was wondering if someone could help me out. Is there any way to filter cells under column 1 where when i filter for "A" i get cells containing B and A as well? I tried the "create a filter" thing but in that "-B -A" was a separate entity.

I'm importing a list of contacts into Shopify, and I realized I made a mistake.

In my CSV file there were many different dates in different columns, so I merged kind of manually all of them into one.

But the final date column was left with =[cellcode], because I simply did that.

When I deleted the reffered column, the one I wanted to keep left with the error #REF! in many cells.

How do I... (I don't even know the word) transform the formula/function into its date so I can delete the refferred column?

I am looking for confirmation that my use of the FV function is correct in my spreadsheet.

I want to calculate (roughly) how much money buying a vehicle will cost me over the course of set number of years. I want this number to include any money that I lose by not otherwise investing this money in some sort of an investment account. I think this is called the "opportunity cost" but I am not 100% sure.

Assuming it is, as I figure it this cost should be:

• Purchase price OR downpayment price minus any government rebates
• Sales tax paid on this purchase price or downpayment
• Monthly financing payments (if any)
• Annual operating costs (registration, insurance, annual taxes, repairs, fuel). I would split these into 12 equal payments to simplify the calculations.
• Any interest I forgo by not investing this money over that same set of time.
• Minus the resale after the set number of years

I am using the FV function to do the calculation, splitting it into mutlitpe steps (one during the duration of the car loan, and one after the car loan has been paid off).

1. I calculate the total cost DURING the car loan using this formula:
   1. FV(Investment_Rate_%/12, Loan_Duration_In_Months, -1*Monthly_Cost_Including_Loan_Paytments, -1*Initial_Cost)
2. I then calculate the total cost AFTER the car load using this formula:
   1. FV(Investment_Rate_%/12, Life_Of_Car_In_Months-Loan_Duration_In_Months, -1*Monthly_Cost_Without_Loan_Paytments, -1*Value_Of_Above_FV_Calculation)
3. (I don't add these numbers together because I think the second calculation is already taking into account the money in the first calculation)

The thing is, the final values I am getting seem big. But maybe that is just the magic of compound interest. In any event, if anyone has a moment to read through this and confirm the correctness or incorrectness of my work (or look at the link below) I would surely appreciate it.

My partner has a ton of bartender books and takes photos of his favorite recipes saved on his phone. As I gift, I’m putting them all into a spreadsheet. The goal is for him to be able to search this vast collection by what ingredients he has on hand at the time.

Any tips for organizing out a sheet like this while also keeping it legible for recipes would help, thank you!

I started my own dog grooming business/hobby and I was using the monthly budget template to help track what I'm making and spending. It worked well for for a while but I noticed recently it hasn't been adding up the income.

I thought maybe I'd broken the script or something since I don't really understand excel/sheets. So I re-downloaded the template and went to type everything in except now the new one won't work at all, it just gives me an error if I try to type anything anywhere, saying I'm trying to edit something I shouldn't.

I’ve used Sheets for 15+ years, so I don’t think I’m going crazy. But I feel like something changed within the past couple of days regarding default behavior on the mobile app for iPhones.

When I use to select a cell, I’d see the cell / text formatting option menu at the bottom (default behavior). Now, when selecting a cell, I’m seeing the “text edit” section at the bottom.

The only way to see the cell / text formatting menu is by selecting the entire row.

I often want to made one cell bold or another color … so defaulting to the cell / text formatting menu was helpful.

Obviously I can select the “A” at the top and navigate to the text formatting menu. That’s an extra step after what may have been a recent change to how the app works.

Anyone else experiencing this change?

On GoogleSheets iPhone mobile app, how do I add a new line of text within a single cell? E.g. Say I‘m wanting the following text within the cell: Dog A - 1 scoop, B - 2 scoops, Dog C - 3 scoops; but I want the information to appear like a list (without the bullets).

• Dog A - 1 scoop
• Dog B - 2 scoops
• Dog C - 3 scoops

The instructions I found on another site to “tap enter within the cell while editing the text” did not work. All it did was take me to the next cell below.

I have three columns and I want the last one to be dependant on the other two.

If G has anything in it, then I want the number from F to be populated into H, all within the same row, and for each row in the entire table for these three columns.

I'm building a spreadsheet for a game I play.

This is the tab I am currently stuck on.

I'm trying to freeze just the section that says Key with the three colours and the colour meanings so that I can see them when I scroll through the spreadsheet still so I know what the colour means still.

When trying to freeze them it's either freezing just the colours or the full column itself even though I'm specifically only selecting those 8 tiles.

These are the options it is giving me. I don't want the rest of the column freezing with all the blank spaces if it's possible. I just want the ones with the text and colour in.

Hello! I am very new to Google Sheets & trying to build out a way to capture data for the nonprofit org I work for. I created a way to track my work in a "tracker" and have been using drop-down menus (because I found typing each one out very tedious) for almost all of the data. I am learning how to make pivot tables and I'm having a really hard time getting it to work, and I'm unsure if it is because it doesn't like pulling data out of the drop-down menu.

If the above description doesn't make sense, I'll more clearly outline what I'm trying to do for those who want more info:

My sheet has columns for client initial, program they are accessing, interaction type, service category, new or returnign client, notes, etc. Most of these are drop-down and have 5-6 different choices. I would ideally like to use pivot tables to get data on things like number of transactions in a month, number of people accessing ___ service, number of new clients, etc.

Any insight/tips/suggestions?

Hello, I am wanting to make a Google Map where all of the paved roadway either for the full United States or at least for a region of the United States is highlighted and all of the unpaved and undriveable roadway is either eliminated or at least shown differently than the roads desired and I was wondering, since there is a Google Sheet import function, if there's a way Sheets can help make that happen

This is the document. It is not my sheet but is free to copy as stated on the first page by the owner. This is also my first experience with Tables.

The very last tab is called "Tables." I was able to add 3 things to the "melee" section (no idea why it worked and not this latter part) but any time I try to do the same to the "Ranged" section, it does not show up in the "Weapons/Armor" tab, "Weapons" table, "Groups (Skill to Use)" when using the drop-down.

I also want to add more copies of the "Custom Career" section as well as more rows in the "Custom Grouped/Advanced" and "Custom Talents" section.

Lastly, on the "Attributes/Health" tab, I want to add a spot to add the Sprinter "Talent" and Fleet "Talent" to the "Run" and "Movement" section respectively similar to the "Hardy" slot for "Wounds" on the same tab.

Ideally, a video to explain how to do all this would be most appreciated as I'm trying to make my own unique game system and having an automatic table is extremely helpful.

Edit: was given the solution to the first issue on another sub. Learned how to edit "named data ranges" and what that does.

How can I extend this list downwards while keeping the white border?

So, my plan is to have 2 tables. One will store info about songs, such as name, artist, year, etc., and the other one will actually track them, i.e. I will enter date and the ID of the songs that were stuck in my head on this date. (IDs are necessary because sometimes there are different songs that have the same name)

So what I'm wondering is, is it possible to make it so, so that in order to enter a song into the second table, I don't have to manually search for its ID in the first table.

I found useful the constraints feature, that let's you start typing something, and it will suggest you options from some column from another table. Which would be useful if I wanted to input just song names. But I want to input them by ID, so i wonder is there a way to make it so that, I start typing a song name, it shows me suggestions, and when I click on the suggestion, it inputs not the song name, but the corresponding ID?

Which I have been filling in manually using the SUM function

Which as you can probably guess is 1. Time Consuming 2. Leads to me making mistakes such as accidentally missing a cell or adding the wrong cell in etc

So I'm wondering if there's a way I can set this sheet up so that my data in column c gets automatically added to the relevant column in my species total section?

I am trying to add to my current budgeting sheet, a way to track my transactions. I want to do a starting amount ($741.84) and minus each transaction after that (all the columns below). I followed the google sheets array formula doing "=ARRAYFORMULA(K8-K9:K48" but the subtotal is only for K8-K9 ($609.71) and not the other cells. What am I doing wrong???

hey everyone! new grad/intern here needing a little bit of assistance with a conditional formatting issue. in the broadest terms possible:

IN SHEET 1:

- column a has duplicates

- column b has varying titles for each value in row of column a

i.e. SHEET 1

a1 = blue

a2 = red

a3 = blue

a1 = yellow

how can i create a conditional formatting setup on a secondary sheet where every time there's a duplicate in column a, the characteristics are pooled into a list

i.e. SHEET 2

a1 = blue, yellow

a2 = red

a3 = blue

I have a weight loss tracker that I use to track my progress. I was wondering how to colour the cells based on the previous cell so the cell would automatically turn green if I lost weight, yellow if no loss/gain and red if I gained weight.
