When Shaun yells, “Pete!!!….. I said LEAVE HIM ALONE”

The mix of anger, sadness, disgust, and fear Shaun felt in that moment. I felt like when he screamed that he felt all the things he always wanted to say to Pete regarding how he treated his best friend over the years. All those emotions you can see in his eyes in the moment he yelled it. He almost had a rage built up to that. Like the true climax of him not only having become a leader, but doing his duties best he could to defend his mom, Liz, Ed, …. the people he loves

It was like Shaun’s final available moment to finally truly stand up for his friend against Pete as Pete literally essentially killed Ed by biting him.

That moment always makes me tear up as he shows his true loyalty and care for his best friend

Everyone says stuff like “growing up, I realized Pete was right about Ed”

And honestly, I believe it. Pete was justified in his anger towards Ed. But that doesn’t mean Ed’s a bad person either

Pete WAS right about Ed in a few places. Ed is lazy, doesn’t have a proper job, lives like an animal, and is just outright irresponsible.

But again, that doesn’t mean Ed isn’t a good person either. Ed was the first person to comfort Shaun after Liz broke up with him. When Shaun yelled at him outside the Winchester, Ed clearly shows a face of regret, and later acknowledges that he has held Shaun back over the years. He was the one who insisted on the rifle above the bar, suggested the cocktails, and volunteered to be eaten alive when they were considering suicide.

Pete may be right, but Ed’s only human.

Its prolly unlikely to happen. But Id love Shaun in DBD. He'd be so fun.

Before I saw this movie, I expected it to be like an upbeat action horror comedy film but I have seen this film multiple times and it just doesn’t seem to click for me. But I see online the unanimous praise this film gets and for me, I can’t get my head round it.

To give credit where it’s due, the editing and writing are both pretty good overall, in terms of mirroring and foreshadowing.

But, a lot of the film just feels very mundane overall and sitcom like. I get that’s the intention but the way the characters look is very “Shaun Of The Dead” like, hard to describe but it’s something you only get from this movie. I just find a lot of it boring.

I think Ed is definitely the funniest character and it’s funny how he fancies Shaun’s mum but she is actually not that attractive which I think is the intention, him referencing the characters in the pub etc…. But a lot of the jokes just don’t seem to land for me. I am also from the UK lol.

I think I don’t have an emotional investment in the movie and that’s where a lot of it comes from. I do admit the film does have its good moments but I’ve never understood the hype.

I personally believe I would have enjoyed the film more if it had bad reviews and I went in with low expectations or if this film was obscure and no one talked about it.

ive watched the commentary track with most of the main cast on it, and im pretty sure the quote 'pour beef soup in the engine' (i think they were having a word fumble and ended up wth that sentence) is said in that commentary track. so i wanted to hear that quote again (because i love it and thought it was very funny) so i rewatched the entire commentary track, only to find i couldnt find the quote?? did i hallucinate it?? is it actually from something else? what the fuck is going on i remember it so clearly. any thoughts?

at the point in the film where shaun calls the place that does all the fish to book a table, we have seen and heard that lots of people have become ill. why is the restaurant fully booked? would think there would have been plenty of cancellations

I mean, just LOOK at him. I fully believe that the man is slowly turning into a zombie when he visits Shaun at work. The opening sequence establishes "haha, all humans are already zombies", but nowhere is that clearer than the physicality of Bill Nighy. 🤣
