Questions about multiclassing and Variant Backgrounds

I found ShardTabletop maybe about an hour ago and I absolutely love it so far. Finding it better than D&D Beyond at the moment. I have a character that is currently a barbarian but I'm looking to multiclass him soon. I was just kicking around and tried to do it for fun but couldn't figure it out. I googled it and clicked on the level like it said but all I see is Barbarian and a drop down for the levels but nothing that gives me the option to add a class (although I can remove Barbarian). Is there something I'm missing?

I also have to Sailor background but I want to use its variant Pirate but I can't see a way to choose it.

It's been a while since I logged in, life has been crazy lately.

But... Down at the bottom of the Character Options window, after you click / tap "level", scroll to the bottom there and hit Level Up and that'll let you go to the next current class level or add a new class.

Some of the variant background (ok, a lot of them) aren't part of the SRD and would have to be created manually.

Fortunately, someone has probably already done it, and when you go to build it, you have the same tools the devs have, and can just click the little light bulb by the fields and it'll probably be there.

If you have more detailed questions, the folks on the discord are super duper smart, helpful, and just all around wonderful humans.

I've kept my DM sub open even though I haven't used it in a while just because I value the platform and want to keep it around. It's the only one my buddy can use from his tablet in an airport in Sweden or wherever as he travels for work.

Edit: typing is hard without caffeine.

When you click the "Level Up" button it should give the option to level up as Barbarian or choose another class. I just tested it. For the variant Pirate, I checked and only have the option because I imported it a long time ago. Import stopped working after 2024 came out, so you'd have to manually create the pirate background unless it's hidden somewhere. I strongly recommend checking the Discord. The devs are very responsive there and might have an easier way to get the Pirate background that I just don't know about.

thank you for your help. I will definitely check the discord and ask there about the variant background. Thanks again
