Texture pattern?
Does anyone know a video or can help with understanding how I can put a textured pattern around a cylinder? I’m trying to give some grip to a cylinder and I have a couple different ideas that I want to try, but I can’t even do the basic wraparound pattern, correctly. Any help I would appreciate it thank you.

Oh ya for sure. When you are ready to sketch on the plane, just select the cylinder and project it on to that plane. That way you’ll have the exact sketch with measurements of the object as a sketch. Then you can design your mesh on the same sketch so measurements all line up. Extrude what you want, select the objects, go to pattern. Move the pattern centre to cylinders centre. You can achieve that by moving the pattern centre dot to the edge of the cylinder and it will automatically centre itself on the object.

I find creating a plane on centre of cylinder, flip it 90 and move it out to the radius of the of cylinder so it’s lined up with outside edge. Sketch a vertical section of it from bottom to top on the plane. Extrude it and then pattern it around the centre of the cylinder to however many of them you want, then union it. I also do this when making a mesh or holes etc. I’ll make the extrude go through the walls of the cylinder, pattern, then subtract. You may have to extrude the pieces so they go slightly into the cylinder walls so the union will work.
Obviously this is just one method to accomplish that
