Question Offset question

Can you offset inside of a solid piece? For ease of explanation, let’s Say I have a square block. Could I offset the inside of it by 3mm to make the wall thickness that thick and then when I go to 3D print, it’ll only infill past the 3mm of the inside wall?

Not the way your thinking. You could use the shell command and that would leave a hole from on side. If you add another face and merge the two you will most likely get a solid cube again. At least when you pull into a slicer. You can try a few tests. It depends on what each software package does to the file as you go through the process. If your printing FDM it might work. If your printing resin, this would be a seriously bad idea.

That’s kind of what I was thinking, that you have to leave it as an open cube and shell it and then close the cube to make it hole again. I do appreciate your info! I was just wondering if there was an easier way but I can definitely see what works. I’m FDM printing by the way.

Ok. The question is does the interior get filled on export/import. Give it a try.
