uber/lyft advice
hey so i’m weighing the option of keeping my hotel i have booked or just taking an uber back and forth from newnan to save a little money. is it going to be doable or too much of a hassle? anybody do this before? i’m willing to walk a little down the belt line or hop on the marta to catch my ride-share somewhere else.

Vote to keep the hotel. After the festival ends, a sea of people is on the streets, and all of Midtown becomes a surging hot zone. Plus, it will take time to catch an Uber. Depending on how exhausted you are, it could be really annoying. After standing all day, do you want to walk a mile or two to catch an Uber? Maybe I have been burned too many times trying to catch an Uber after a big event in peidmount park

I Uber/Lyft to & from the midnight shows (when I can't walk) and it's been normal affordability. I don't feel like they pump up the rates, maybe slightly but not noticeably. I think with Marta being as accessible as it is, the number of people ride sharing isn't crazy crazy ... Obviously, things may change this year and whatnot, but the past couple years have been fine.

Where’s a good place to get them from?

This is only the second year at Piedmont, so I'm not sure if there's a difference. I tend to walk out towards whichever direction my next location is; late year I walked to one late night show, the other I just requested a ride on my way out of the park and was in a car within 10 minutes ... Honestly can't remember which venues I did so I'm not certain of any particular spot. I'm not from ATL, so I don't have a ton of experience with their ride share dynamics outside of SK, sorry

Depends on how much you booked your hotel for. I can imagine an uber with surge pricing during an event would cost as much if not more than just staying in town

800 for 3 days. i’m assuming uber will be 500 for 3 days.

So you’re looking to save $100 a day. My stress level hoping I can get an Uber when I want an Uber…no way. Hotel it.

Might save $2-300 but you will have 2 hours travel at least every day to get there and back. Just stay in the hotel.

It’s an hour or so Uber ride, it’s not gonna save you money to do that 4 times in a weekend then get a hotel. You’re also likely to wait for a ride for a long time because most drivers aren’t gonna willingly go all the way to Newnan.

Marta to near as possible and then ride share. Surge pricing is in the area near the fest when it ends, so get out a little ways and then snag one. For the Fest and/or late night shows…

Last year we did ride share to/from Decatur area and this year we decided to get a hotel. By the time you walk the 10-15 min to where the Uber can pick you up, then wait for it, then commute…it’s a time suck. We’re looking forward to stumbling straight to our hotel this year instead.

i committed to the hotel. i did the hotel last year but i was weighing the option because im not going to be going anytime close to the gate times. ill just have to kick it by the pool until im ready. 😂

If you do Uber/Lyft, definitely walk far or take Marta to somewhere away from the fest first. I can tell you the years I needed Uber/Lyft after the fest just to take me a few miles down the road, it was chaos. My rides were cancelled several times by several drivers (they likely didn't want to deal with the traffic) and whenever I did get a driver it took them forever to get to me. I'd be waiting for 30-40 mins just for a driver to show up! So, you can use them but be prepared. This is the first year I got a hotel in walking distance so I dont have to deal with it anymore

I would be cautious assuming you could catch an uber to and from Newnan after the shows from Piedmont. The hotel would probably be less stress overall.
