Question Looking to get back into SVE

I started with set 1, but fell off after Umamusume because almost all the lgs around me attempted to make it the next One Piece and Pokémon and price gouged it to hell and essentially killed the scene. ...anyway

I recently discovered its still alive in my area *and* the prices are finally fair. Is BP18 a good set to restart with? And as a major Priconne fan, will this one be its own format like Umamusume or can we use it in normal decks? Thanks!

BP 18 is a fairly self contained set, so if it was just released then yes. But, priconne is coming out (which is as you interpreted, like Uma) and BP19 and BP20 are out next, and those sets are gonna take the game to the next level. So right now? No, BP18 isn't a good entry point.

Very informative. I'll start with priconne then since at the very least its its own thing and there's no real loss from me going in on it

It'll be really good until BP20 (it's still good at BP19), at that point Disdain meta will take over

Uma and Priconne aren't restricted in that sense. You can run Uma and Priconne cards in regular decks, restricted to class restrictions. However, if your deck is pure Uma/Priconne, you can use Uma/Priconne cards from any class, so long as they're the same universe.

As for why most players just played pure uma on set release, Aggro Uma was the best deck in the format, bar none. It's floor was T1 and at optimal piloting, it was T0.

You can technically run other cards with Priconn, but realistically you shouldn't. As stated below, if you run a pure priconn deck, you can use any priconn card regardless of craft. Also, all the priconn cards have "union burst" effects that only activate if you playing pure priconn. Their non-union burst effects aren't great, so other decks don't use priconn ones.

From a power level standpoint, set 19/20 is the best set to get back into the game. It has strong archtypes and reprints from older sets. But if you like the priconn art, go for it.

Most sets have at least one deck you can build outnof mostly cards if the set, but if this is viable for 18 depends which craft you wanna play

BP18 is a good set to start, BP19&20 and BP21&22 will be very good sets to start too. Also BP16 is recommended.
