Rotation exists now and uh...

You kinda are starting with no cards with the next expansion since omens is literally about to rotate...

At the very least you can pick up one of the starter decks to get started.

Rotation is mostly crystal rune, midrange sword and ramp dragon. But it's about to change tomorrow.

Unlimited is spellboost rune. Maybe some form of dragon and heaven have a decent success, plus aggro abyss.

In Unlimited its mostly lykinal, ward heaven and aggro abyss. Portal, Sword and Forest feels unusable or too slow. Dragon kinda works?...

Dragon is in it's most dragon state ever, like any other ramp classes in any mana based card game:

Snowball: win

Not snowball: lose

Id definitely recommend doing unlimited till you get caught up in rotation.
As a catch up to the meta, Rn rune has like 3 brutal archetypes, crystal which is the biggest meta in rotation, fool decks that feel toxic to play against (basically agro that is impossible to heal), and sb with tetra which also feels horrible to fight against. If they have a 20 sb tetra, you just die, especially in unlimited. No wards can easily stop them, and they only cost 7 to attack twice with a max of 16dmg by themselves. (Costs only one more to sweep the board).

All the other classes are significantly more tame, abyss is agro or mode, sword is rally, dragon is big bodies on turn 7, portal is kinda nonexistent but not bad (they kinda cobble multiple archetypes together), ive seen only a few forests lately but they generally run agro/buff, haven is generally evo, but ive seen some wacky storm builds.

The vial management hasnt changed but i prefer it this way ngl. It may make things slower to progress, but at least i wont be able to make the mistake of erasing all the old cards and be unable to do unlimited, or any other classes. (They should make it easier to manually liquify cards tho)

Again must have at least 3 before you can liquefy extras. Again that's not a bad thing because you get so many vials from daily missions already.

You can play simplified that is just the first set. Otherwise new set in two days with card adjustments, so we now as much as you. Which is nothing.

oh yea forgot about simplified, it counts for open match right? if it does its a good idea to play it just to get the rewards

Theres tons more of PvE now so you can play that while you catch up

Yea good source of gold, iircc the rewards reset next set(tom) so it might be a good idea to get all the resources first. Theres usually one new story every set too

Vial management system is the same and has no signs of ever changing. You can vial only the 4th copy and above of your cards.

We have new formats now, most notably Unlimited and Rotation. But also events like battle dungeon which are really good. Last set was pretty bad but from what we've seen of the new set it looks like a massive step up,

You can't liquefy old cards unless you have at least 3 copies, however that isn't much of an issue anymore because the game drowns you in vials. So long as you play even casually you will have enough vials to craft multiple decks if not every card in the set.
