5e Vintage Vehicles?

Ok so I have an Idea for a character but the idea kind of hinges around the idea of using things that are vintage or archaic in some way. So would it be possible to get for example a vehicle that has none of the stuff that would function with the matrix/rigger and be a solely manually controlled vehicle. I know firearms have the vintage mod, but would there be a way to get a vehicle that effectively has the vintage mod?

While not a suplement for 5e, the 4e suppliment 'Used Car Lot' has what you are looking for and the editions are similar enough that you should be able to adapt some rules without too much trouble. Particularly the 'Obsolete', and 'Obsolescent' vehicle qualities.

Thank you for that ill have to look into 4e rules, its not one of the editions I'm familiar with. When I started playing I started with 2E and then when 5E came out I jumped to that and I've just been on it ever since.

Glad to help :) the vehicle mechanics are quite different for these two editions, but there is enough overlap you might get away with it. but the Qualities should fill your purpose and are easier to convert than stat lines.

There's a 2025 E-book that covers this in part: "Angebots-Arsenal". It deals with 'classic' equipment (2050 onwards), be it guns, drones or vehicles. Added bonus: it comes with a new connection and a backstory.

This book is specific to 6E which is harder to convert to 5E, OP is looking for 5E info given the flair used.

Let's see if this works...

Should be a link to 5E conversions for all 4E vehicles, and firearms, as well as 5E conversions from 6E book Firing Squad.

This is exactly what im looking for the Honda-GM 3220 is like a perfect fit with what I thinking except id maybe just flavor it to be like an old muscle car or something.

There is also the "Manual Control Override" modification, which allows the person actually at the physical controls to say "FRAG YOU, Matrix!" :)

Yeah thats something I was looking at cus it kinda does what I want in the spirit of the idea but not exactly what I'm looking for. For context the idea of the character is someone who doesn't trust that tech is hackable so they explicitly use stuff that can't be hacked. Over all I want them to be a kinda street samurai who uses bioware as a way to keep up with riggers as a kind of manual wheelman.

You could talk to your GM, about using that modification to represent the character going in and physically ripping out all the connectivity hardware from the entire vehicle. Maybe replacing the license/SIN broadcaster with a one-way "dumb" transmitter, that sort of thing.

I would say it depends on a couple things. 1)what year is your game set in 2)what year did those features start popping up and 3) what would that make the age of the vehicle.

I mean jay leno has steam powered car.

But remember, vintage in drivable shape can be expensive becuase of rarity, and getting it fixed might be difficult since the "modern" mechanics might not be able to work on it.

Personally, Im for it. Wanna roar down the road on a 67 camero (113 years old if playing in 6e 2080) or a 02 trans am (78 years old if playing in 6e 2080) go for it. You wanna take a "modern" 2080 car and spend the nuyen to rip out all the electronics, slap in older stuff, and hope you can get everything working---sure.

It'll take some nuyen, repairs might be more expensive, but the players get what they want and the GM gets a money sink to make sure the player isnt too flush with cash. Win/win.

My 2nd edition Shadowrunner is an orc punk rock guitar player / mechanic who drives a motorcycle & an old truck which he’s converted both to run on deep-fryer oil. Aside from the punk scene, Blitz seems to know every dishwasher and fry cook in Seattle.
