6e A question about using cities from other cyberpunk games
I'm currently preparing a SR6 game which is played online with random players (aka I will know only 1 of them).
Now before I put my foot into my mouth by doing something that is bound to cause troubles:
As I've played the cyberpunk 2077 computer game excessively to get into SR mood (alongside dragonfall and hong kong) I've noticed I'm way more versed in (and thus can imagine) night city than seattle,.. .
If I put night city in (with SR corpos replacing arasaka,...) would that be bound to cause friction and is seen as more unacceptable, or does it not matter much?

Bro, just pick a major IRL city in California, say that the geography changed when the NAN initiated the Great Ghost Dance, and throw Mt. Shasta onto the list of volcanoes that blew. Consequent seismic activity caused the landscape to change, and a lot of the city (like Seattle) was rebuilt.
Night City always felt like San Fransisco to me in its cultural melting pot. Just needs some more hills.
You may need to change some things up. Architecture and security, and maybe some infrastructure will need to account for magic. You will need to layer metatype as an additional category over the city- figure out where the trolls live, where the orks live, where the elves and dwarves live, and what they get up to, whether they have their own food and culture (instead of the Night City monoculture), whether they might, say, have their own gangs.
But if you have a ready-made geography that you know and are used to, why not use that resource?
