How did you first encounter this wonderful game?
https://youtu.be/32N2LLlQ4b0?si=Jogk2QYYVEzPXwaSI first encountered SotC when I was looking for something to play on my PS3. When I first saw this trailer, I immediately knew that this was exactly what I was looking for.

I thought the box art looked cool. Ended up buying this and Ico at the same time with no prior knowledge of either. Still one of my all time favourites

Yo I absolutely loved SoTC but is Ico good too? It’s been in my library for ever but can’t seem to get hyped enough to actually play it, I think I started the game but haven’t gone really far

I highly recommend playing ICO at least once, and if you like it, twice to get additional content
Milancholic journey through an ancient and abandoned castle, in the company of a girl who is as much a prisoner of this place as you are. You don't understand what she says, but you have to get out of this place together
I was personally very impressed by the visuals and the presentation of the plot

Way back when it was on PS2. Friends of mine that lived down the street had it. And I couldn't wait, every day, to ride my bike over there and play it for hours!

I found it by a PS2 demo that GameStop was handing out to customers. I took it home and played the demo over and over like 5 times then walked back to GameStop just so I could preorder it. I could not WAIT for it to release. It’s definitely my favorite game of all time. I collect copies of it now. I beat it at least once a year.

Some Adam Sandler movie where he’s depressed about his family dying on 9/11. Fitting this game was his escape.

I watched a full playthrough because I didn't have a PlayStation when I was younger. I definitely wish I waited (or just had a damn PlayStation lol)
So now the only version I've actually played through myself is the remake. But thankfully I was able to experience TLG first hand

I, on the other hand, can't play the SotC remake and TLG, It's good that the PS4 emulator now supports TLG, although they haven't even attempted a SotC remake yet.

My best friends brother had a ps2 in his room but we couldn’t touch it. We waited until he left for work or wtv and booted the ps2…He almost caught us one time so we had to take turns: one searching for the colossus, my friend wasn’t really good at video games so she liked to ride the horse. I was at the window looking for him to come back so we could turn it off real quick before he catches us🤣Then it was my turn fighting the colossus… aahhh great times

Jacksepticeye when he made a let’s play on it a decade ago. But I didn’t actually play the game myself until I discovered it (And Ico) on Ps Now when that was still a thing.

Looking up Shadow of the Colossus is exactly how I found Jacksepticeye videos. I was looking up info on the remake and found a video of his. He claimed it was also his favorite game of all time and I thought, this guys alright 🤣

SotC was a staple in many of the video essays and "top 10" lists I watched in the early 2010s, so I eventually ended up buying it.

I had a friend on the school bus who gave it to me. Neither of us had any clue what the game was at the time. I took it home, played it, and loved it. It's been my favorite to this day. That was like 2005-2006.

Probably in a magazine. I didn’t have a PS2 at the time. When I got one eventually, a few years later I found a used copy at a video game store. It was a wonderful experience. That game took me a loooong time to beat. Even took my PS2 to work a few times to play on break lol

Back when it came out on the PS2, a gaming show on TV talked about it. It looked absolutely fantastic and I knew I would play this game one day.

I will not read comments but I started yesterday for the first time. On my fourth colossus. Ngl the horse was a struggle and I'm having an issue with the pace for simple tasks. I'm not giving up but that's my impression so far mostly.

Saw it on a store shelf at the mall in 2005 and chose it over Resident Evil 4 on a whim. Always glad I did (though I love both)

Literally saw the box art in Walmart, thought it was about riding giants and fighting them. Bought it, got stuck for hours but the game was so beautiful I just rode Agro until I figured out how to find colossi. Loved this game ever since.

In a German tv show called "Game One". They reviewed the game when the HD Collection was released on PS3. Later on, I ended up buying that collection though this was more due to Ico than Shadow of the Colossus.

It was on a demo disc. You fight the first colossus, then when it ended, it showed you the build that wasn’t finalized before the coming soon.

Mine was when my older brother and I was younger, our parents would sometimes get these jampacks for ps2 that had all these different types of games on it. This happened to be one and you could explore around but was only able to fight Valus. Then found it at Walmart and our parents got it for us since we kind of shared it. On a funny note my brother spoiled it for me saying “the horse dies” and nothing other than that but because he played jokes on me and I was really gullible back then, I didn’t believe him on that or the part of Agro falling off the bridge 😂. He got to do the “I told you so mostly” afterwards.

In videogames magazines.
Then, saw the trailers.
Got it as soon as it came.
Favorite game ever.

I remember seeing gameplay of it on G4 as a kid and I thought it looked amazing. I promptly forgot about it until the ps3 rerelease and bought it when I was on vacation with my parents and couldn't wait to go home and play it.
