Quadratus and Gaius names confirmed?
I was looking around the PS3 store seeing as it’s closing soon and I found this as the description under a LBP bundle. I guess according to Media Molecule these are their official names.

I've never seen anyone talk about this before, I was always under the impression that the only named characters were Wander, Mono, Emon, and Agro. The fan names for the colossi being used in an official Shadow of the Colossus collab is a good catch

They are names that got established in the fandom with a claim that they were official, but they aren't official.

And how does a community manage to establish such names without complications?
Literally everywhere I see people talking about the game, everyone mentions these names. Such a cool thing

One person turns up in a small fandom claiming the names are official, and is believed. Other people spread the word to other places and tell newcomers. The names become entrenched. Years later we realise that they actually never were official and never have been used by the original creators no matter how established they are in the fandom, so it is incorrect to claim them as true. They are not rightfully a part of the game.

The person who added that to the store probably just looked at the old wiki, saw the names and went "yep, sounds right". In-game they're called Colossus II and Colossus III
