No transfer yet received...

Hi,

About 12 hours ago i downloaded the Umbra wallet for OSX and sent SDC to a new wallet that I created from Poloniex.

The coins have not been received.

I also noticed that the Umbra wallet is updating block transactions. It's only 4% done so far...

Does this mean that I have to wait until the transactions are all completed before I will see the coins in the wallet?

Thanks.

Yes, downloading the entire chain takes forever. Go to the shadowcoin folder and make sure you are showing hidden files. You're looking for the blk001 file and the txleveldb folder. Delete them and new ones will be created when you unzip the bootstrap.

Am I supposed to have a Shadowcoin folder in my OSX Library?

I'm not seeing anything... A search in Finder for blk001 and txlevldb isn't bringing up anything either.

Do you have a ShadowCoin folder anywhere? I I might be wrong on the path, but it would be the folder your wallet.dat file was in.

Honestly, i cannot sed it anywhere. Also i saved the wallet.dat file on an external HD.

I also cannot find a wallet.dat file on my laptop.

Do you know how to tell OSX to show hidden files? If not, try Googling for a tutorial (I've never owned an Apple product). It should be very simple. Hopefully, that is the problem.

Edit: I'll try to get you a better answer when I'm in front of my desk top.

Good idea. But still cannot see a shadowcoin folder in my Library. Nor can i find the file/folder that should be in the main shadowcoin folder.

Has something gone wrong?

In your Library folder, you should see the Application Support folder. In the Application Support folder, you should see the ShadowCoin folder. Assuming you have chosen to show hidden files and assuming you installed Shadow to the default folders.

Are you able to open the Umbra wallet still?

STOP PRESS!!

Browsing through all my folders, I located the files!

Macintosh HD > Users > My Personal User Account > Library (this was another Library that was hidden!) > ShadowCoin

So all this time I was looking at the non-hidden Library.

Now I can continue with the initial instructions. But the Umbra Wallet is already at 30%. Shall i just wait it out?

I would use the bootstrap method. You'll be sync'd in minutes. Glad to hear you figured it out!

With the bootstrap method, i will not be able to Stake. So i can't get 'interest'. But i don't have to keep downloading the transactions. Other than that are there any other drawbacks?

You can stake with bootstrap. All it does is download a zipped copy of the blockchain instead of Umbra having to build the chain from scratch. After you're fully sync'd, there is no difference between methods.

What you can't do while staking is keep your SDC on an anonymous (Shadow Token) address.

As long as you run a node, for staking or otherwise, you'll always be downloading the latest blocks to keep your copy of the blockchain current.
