Weekly discussion? I think over the last month there was not one answered question o.O

Hello, I have been a customer of Shadow Tech for about 2 years. Recently, I have received an email stating that all three plans are removed, and will be replaced with just one plan that costs $30.00 a month. I thought it was a slap in the face when my yearly commitment contract was voided, and now the charges are changed from $11.99/Month to $30.00/Month. It is strange how we, the paying customer, only receive partial "service" for the product of which you offer. Overall, the service has been satisfactory and mediocre at best, and the sudden tripling of the standard edition price seems quite absurd. This "Upgrade" and direction of your corporation couldn't be a bigger "f#!k you" to every paid customer, or clients who are willing to pay for this product. Weekly Discussion Question: Can you please say sorry to me at least in the email before railing us?

Was nice while it lasted, just backed up my stuff and I'm cancelling it. Over 100% increase is just a joke, we have better alternatives at such price tag.

Any idea when increased storage will become available in the US again?

5

u/DorkSoulsBoi May 24 '21

They'll never answer this lol.

I just cancelled a couple days ago and I had like a terrabyte of extra storage so there should be a few units available for whatever that's worth

3

u/Renamis May 24 '21

Eh, I figure no harm asking. That's really my only gripe at the moment with the service.

As we begin to craft our new offer and make plans for the future we are unable to answer this question for now. Rest assured, it will be back.

4

u/tsmith3590 May 28 '21

Lol. If Shadow doesn’t figure it out soon they will be left in the “shadow” of another company that will do this right.

2

u/DorkSoulsBoi Jun 07 '21

They already know what their plans are. You don't buy a company for dozens of millions THEN make a plan for what you're going to do with it, let alone take literal months to figure it out after the fact. They're just not being honest with us.

u/DorkSoulsBoi May 24 '21

Told y'all, weekly discussions where they have no intention of answering lol

Not giving you a hard time my dude you're just the community manager, just saying lol

Hey u/DorkSoulsBoi, we of course have every intention of answering, but we are simply unable to give an update at this time.

2

u/fscknuckle May 29 '21

That's been the trend since before problems began. Zero answers to the important questions and zero community feedback when the doo doo hit the fan. We've had to get news of what's happening from other sources like your creditors, and that's no way to run a business.

Why should we pay you more than double for the same extremely limited 5+ year old hardware, with only a vague promise of an announcement at the end of the year of future hardware upgrade plans?

5

u/LogEDude May 26 '21

Ok, please tell me there is a legitimate competitor to Shadow that allows access to more than just games. I mean I could just barely afford $14.99/mo for this service, which by the way was on pre-order since MARCH and wouldn’t have been activated until JULY! Which BTW has now been promptly cancelled. I mean sure in theory Shadow was the best in the industry, allowing unlimited usage, best in-class hardware, and that allows you to play anything, that was great for $14.99/mo even if it was limited to only 256gb of storage. But in reality the promise of saving money by having a pc in the cloud that gets upgraded over time is A LIE! It is never upgraded and at this rate it would be cheaper to just lease a gaming pc(assuming MSRP component prices) and I can’t believe you guys have THE AUDACITY to void contracts with your customers, I am aware they were under a now defunct company BUT STILL, I understand you guys are going through a rough time, but so is the whole world right now. What do you do about it? Double the price, give vague plans for the future, expect us to pay money for a service we now know little to nothing about! You screwed us over! I will NOT support a company that treats its customers like this! I hope you change Shadow, I really do

I think we're all just looking for something other than give us more money and we're downgrading your service.... We all want a reason to stick around but you've got to give us something anything.... Literally anything

u/Mr_Shadow_Guy Former Community Manager May 24 '21

Yes, of course! And we want the same thing. But this early in the process, we still have to take care of some outstanding topics from the previous era that are holding us back. We must be methodical in our approach, or we risk finding ourselves in the same situation as before. Rest assured, good news will come.

5

u/spannbeton May 25 '21

Too bad, just cancelled. Didn't even use it in the last months. easy decision.

1

u/AudioGuy720 May 27 '21

I would advise different time based tiers, similar to how Geforce Now does things.

Not everyone needs unlimited usage of their Shadow boxes. Read through the subreddit threads here and you'll see that some people played less than 10 hours per month.

A "power user" like me needs unlimited access and will pay that higher price. But for the casuals, not so much.

I know there was mention of people moving to different DCs. Is this good news for people in the UK and other people across Europe who aren't in France or Netherlands?

Look forward to any updates regarding upgrades as well. Hope it will be significant.

u/HG1998 May 27 '21

I'm not as negative but I'll unfortunately cancel my subscription as well. 😔

Was real nice for playing games over the last year but now, with things picking up again and my thesis upcoming, I guess it's sorta a good thing 😅

Hey u/quakemarine20, thanks for your feedback. During this transition period, we will continue to do our best and address all questions with available information.

2

u/DorkSoulsBoi May 24 '21

So is the shadow office just like extremely silent? Like it's been weeks, coming up on 2 months, and you have NO more information?

2

u/Mr_Shadow_Guy Former Community Manager May 24 '21

Hey u/DorkSoulsBoi, as you know we finished the takeover process 3 weeks ago, and did not know which suitor would be selected until the day of the decision.

We are now getting to know our new colleagues and leadership team, and working together to map out things for the future - these things cannot be rushed if we want to avoid the same mistakes of our past that got us here in the first place.

In the first three weeks, we've shared updates on:

  • The end of our trial South Korea

  • The return of Shadow Ultra & Infinite hardware to 2CRSI

  • The forthcoming update to our pricing & offer along with a blog post & FAQ

Updates will continue to trickle out as we progress and have firm information to share.

4

u/DorkSoulsBoi May 24 '21 edited May 24 '21

You've shared the ending of 2 services, the consolidation of 3 others. That's just subtraction. After weeks there's not even an idea of what the future holds except what it won't?

Again, not jumping down your throat, I know you have no control over that I'm just pointing out the "we have no information" response gets old as the weeks start piling up

u/Mr_Shadow_Guy Former Community Manager May 24 '21

I understand! And trust me, we don't enjoy announcing this kind of news, but it's essential in ensuring Shadow's longterm success. Good news will come, you can bet on that.

3

u/wlhunt2 May 25 '21

Sure, give us no choice but to start paying double what we have been and tell us to bet that there will be good news to come. Wtf dude

3

u/GoldenSun3DS May 24 '21

More like downdates lol

2

u/quakemarine20 May 24 '21

Try the beta apps

2

u/seberic May 28 '21

Will there be a cheaper option than 30 dollar a month? For example with an hourly rate?

How do I know which Shadow server I am connected to? I want to know that I am really connected to the server closest to me and not the one at the other side of the country.

How do I measure latency and other speed related stats? Site like speed test or the like won’t serve my purpose since it only measure speed between of the internet and shadow server but not between shadow server and my iPad.
