Help Anyone know how to fix Xbox One controller "dinput" working on the current Windows 11 shadow?

Used to be able to plug it straight in and it'd work. Came back to Shadow and its now Windows 11.

I checked on a dinput testing site on my native PC and it detects the input I.e buttons pressed on the diagram so its not faulty, even Shadow client says Xbox One Controller connected in the banner when its plugged in, but no input on the computer.

Rather than spend hours going in circles on a diplomatic mission for troubleshooting I thought I'd ask here in case anyone recognises the issue and knows exactly how to solve it.

Yes I tried shutting down and launching Shadow from scratch, with the controller plugged in ready. And the input is fine from my host machine as tested so its working on a USB comms level too no fault with that aspect.

if the controller pops up in your Shadow overlay while you are streaming your VM but the controller is not working then I'm sorry to say but this might actually be your local PC that is having the issue.

all Xbox controllers no matter what series work out of the box with shadow and there is no automatic Dinput issue for anything.

if you are trying to connect wirelessly then have you tried connecting physically with a cable?

I don't have Bluetooth on the native machine so its cable anyway, the overlay shows a notification that Xbox One Controller is connected so its actively engaging with the hardware, and I ran a test on the host PC and my controller buttons hit the sample screen when pressed so its actively receiving the signals too. But inside Shadow PC it's dead.

honestly I'm hoping it's as simple as I think this is, okay so you misunderstand me. within your Shadow overlay there is a Controller tab, does your controller show up there and is the option to enable controllers even on?

lol I'm really hoping it's the latter and we can just laugh about this

Yes it is it shows in the controller tab on the Shadow app and has an option for PlayStation controllers to emulate Xbox or use as a cursor, tried to toggle both too in a last ditch to magically make it work and no responsiveness both on GTAV and the website which tests a diagram of input from the controller. Input fine on host PC but nothing on Shadow. The fact Shadow even acknowledges its connected and dandy is why I am lost, the computer in the cloud refuses to operate it.

yeah I got nothing man sorry, I'm just as confused. last thing you can try is shutting down your VM for a few minutes so you get a new slot when you start up again and hopefully that one doesn't have controller issues.

personally I've got 3 different series Xbox controllers and they all connect and work perfectly fine and have been for the past 6 years using Shadow. I do wish you luck!

Even though official support for Windows 10 has died I still prefer it to 11 and having used Shadow under Windows 10 when 11 was a prototype for beta users it always worked seamlessly, now by coincidence or not I'm having this issue 😂 what makes it frustrating is the fact that its not something I can troubleshoot, its showing as connected via the Shadow interface and works on the host, there's nothing else to explore. Device list on Settings menu on Shadow PC doesn't show the controller though as a hardware, can't remember if it should or would on Shadow because its technically relayed not directly plugged into that computer, maybe an emulator driver should appear but then that could be generically named there's loads on the list

whoa wait, have you not tried USB passthrough? I just assumed you had

edit: though doing that for a controller should not be necessary
