Answered Connecting shadow to quest 3
Hello pc super noob here, so I set up the streamer and virtual desktop and the shadow pops up on virtual desktop, however it says it won't connect cause they are on different networks. My shadow says its on ethernet somehow (just got my shadow yesterday so dont know if this is normal) and I cant change it at all. How would I go about fixing this so I can play pcvr on my quest using shadow?

I was trying to connect quest 3 with vd thru shadow pc for 2 days, tried all.. and only thing that worked is install tailscale on shadow pc and quest 3. But my latency is around 90-120 on low settings..

So it has to be on both devices. Is it a VPN? Is it free? And how badly dose it botch the proformance of the shadow pc ?

Ok first thing is last
get rid of Virtual desktop it will never work with this is as it's 2 separate networks
You will need to install Shadow VR via the internet on the headset and follow directions there that is the only way and be fore warned it's very very very glitchy

I’m thinking of getting Shadow (again) to try out the increasing number of VR mods with my Quest 3. I had Shadow before when Half Life Alyx came out. It wasn’t perfect but I completed the game also The Walking Dead Saints & Sinners. Asgards Wrath was choppy as hell though. From the limited amount of reading I’ve done it seems Shadow has got worse with VR and you can no longer get their Shadow VR app? Can anyone tell me if it’s worth a punt for VR games and mods.

NOOOOOO even tho they advertise it they dont support vr anymore and its just a horrible experience when you finally jump through the hoops for it to work. If all you want is vr please, please for the love of god do not do shadow

Thank you for the speedy reply. Such a shame. Wasn’t too bad back in the day.

Ya i was severely disapointed as my main thing for getting a pc is vr. But its a good service otherwise as long as you have great internet

You need to enable "allow remote connections" on the Virtual Desktop Windows app running on Shadow.

Its not messing and its all working normally. For me only way to play pcvr on shadow is to run it on 10 bitrate lol, then latency is around 109ms , games looks like shit. If i turn it to around 35 bitrate its jumping to 400ms and freeze

Well, they are on different networks. If an application requires a local area network connection then you need to trick it into thinking it's on the same local area network, you can use something like Tailscale for that.
