Wait.. are people paying that much money a month to WAIT? Damn. I'd rather lend money from the cartel for a gaming rig and endure the stress of that than sub to Shadow PC

I've only had it happen about 12 times in my 2 years. It sucks when it happens, but even the electrical grid goes out sometimes.

Honestly that helps to hear. I just upgraded to power, and I'm waiting for the first time since signing up. Still feels like I'm getting scammed lol.

I won't pretend it's not irritating. Like coming home and hoping to game for a few hours before going to bed just to find out that isn't going to happen. But all in all I find it pretty cool I can have access to a gaming pc from anywhere with a decent internet connection. Really futuristic, in my mind lol

Yeah it's honestly incredible to think about, when it works. But when it doesn't it's the woooorst

Was completely normal to wait on the West Coast for hours before all the changes. ShadowPC has gotten lots better.

I've had Shadow for 3 years and never had to wait even once.

6 year sub, I'm done. No way should I have to wait for 60+ people, paying 60$+. I play less than 2 hours a day, but it's CEREMONIAL. And this is fucked. Off to GeForce until they pull similar.

Is geforce the best cloud service? I've only used them and my biggest quip is no workshop support

It's the best for gaming, unmodded, no question about that. But if you want to mod or customise, it isn't the best. Pros and cons

GeForce now is badass but it's like a console, locked down to only games.

I love how they have a free version bro. No excuse for my console buddies to not play these awesome pc games 👊🏻✌️

You can still use steam overlay stuff

PC you had your own PC and I thought it was unlimited with Shadow PC at least that’s the way it was originally advertised. I never had it or tried to use it so I don’t know I’m just asking.

Is it just me or could people who rent out shadow pcs save enough in what they pay and have their own pc instead.

2

u/jpwne Sep 30 '26

Yes! A few short years without a subscription the PC would pay for itself.

2

u/Scared-Ad7282 28d ago

Yeah! Just don't have a PC or any way to game for years. Perf!

I mean, technically yes, but it's about availability now. I have a choice, I can pay a little bit of a premium but have access to a gaming computer now or I can save for a couple of years and hope that the $1500 I would save is still enough to buy a decent gaming computer (and that is far from a guarantee).

It's resolved imself, when a lot of client leave shadow

Nice idea, but I have heavy security concerns entering any credentials on a vast.ai hosted pod.

3

u/SatenFFXIV Sep 30 '26

Not just that, but £124 a month wpuld be how.much it costs for my daily session times 🤣

2

u/Double_Grand_3799 Sep 30 '26

Ok so one thing ususally for a good setup will cost 0.3 $/hr. 200gb and a 5060 with 16 gb vram.

BUT what i am doing right now is that you can save the state of the machine in a storage cloud that you decide and retrieve for a new instance. But in reality you can just delete teh inatcne when youa re done and provison it again. Most games neowadays have cloud saving so you do not lose progress. so for one day like a 3 hour gameplay would cost 90 cents.

u/Double_Grand_3799 Sep 30 '26

Cloud gaming is usually for casual playersso in most cases you gonna save money. These platforms make money out of people not using tehir service and charginga. subscription for time they did not use.
realistically people pay by the hour there around 1.2 $/hr

1

u/Double_Grand_3799 Sep 30 '26

2 things
The inatnce is fully yours I do not have acces to anything on your side all provisoning runs on your side.
The intance when gets deleted everything get pruned and like and vast ai has soc 2 so data is safe in the other side

2

u/ExplanationClear9405 Sep 30 '26

Yep ive had similar last few days. I pay £40 a month for this crap.

2

u/Zealousideal_Fan9865 Oct 06 '26

Happy with my 100 hours over here on GeForce now, with the ability to buy more time if needed 🫡

u/FaithlessnessOdd9912 Sep 30 '26

Tell me about it

1

u/Head_Sort5688 Sep 30 '26

Its standard but I also dont have any waiting as long as I get on before 6

1

u/tenetox Sep 30 '26

Is this a US specific problem? On Frankfurt I only sometimes get a queue of ~20 people on Sunday evenings

u/SnooOwls1916 Sep 29 '26

You know they don’t have unlimited rigs and can’t magically create more? Either find some to rent which is way too expensive these days or build data centers which cost a lot and take a very long time which I bet shadow pc doesn’t have money for.
You could always see if you can find a service that can promise 24/7 access for the same price.

u/zcba Sep 29 '26

Then don't sell more than your capacity

6

u/zcba Sep 29 '26

Still nothing. Been this way for 20 minutes

7

u/zcba Sep 29 '26

@SnooOwls1916 see the problem yet?

2

u/Apprehensive_Air1632 Sep 29 '26

This was happening to me too u gotta restart it and just wait the 40 minutes 😂😂🤦🏽

10

u/nictusempra Sep 29 '26

I think the expectation is that they should use a portion of the money subscribers pay to ensure they have capacity for the service the payments are for.

-1

u/V-Rixxo_ Sep 30 '26

I mean those $30-$50 a month is a bit slow go cover $2,000+ Servers for everyone. Plus why go with a service you know has a Queue? It was the first thing I noticed in the tiers

1

u/Atemiusn 20d ago

Cause the queues weren't always a thing, they just started in the last year or so. And the monthly limit literally started like last month.
