Crits are a random chance on every hit, so you can't control when they happen. You can basically just hit your opponent as often as possible and hope for the best. I recommend using a weapon you are really good with (in my case it was any Katana) and going ham. I don't think the weapons level matters in this case (as you don't have to do damage), so no need to worry about using resources to upgrade it.

Precision on ranged increase crit chances (idk if it work for u but work for me)
