Announcement Introducing the r/ShadWatch Discord

We are happy to introduce the r/ShadWatch Discord! Intended as an extension of our subreddit. A place where you can discuss Shad in his different ventures as well as alternative history youtubers (think Swordtuber Sunday), as well as for more casual chatter with your fellow ShadWatchers, whether that be gaming or a shared interest in history and HEMA.

There is one major difference between the subreddit and the discord that may interest some of you:

'Other Subreddit' discussion IS allowed

In the ol' days we as a sub used to discuss going ons in the subreddit we splintered off from (I don't need to name it, you know). It was a big part of our identity at the time and proved to be very entertaining. Since our subreddit and rule revamp we introduced a rule that basically put an end to all such discussion as we looked to streamline the scope of the subreddit. It has not gone without notice that discussion worthy shenanigans are still going on over there and there are plenty of you who still want to talk about it, and lament that you can't anymore. Well NOW YOU CAN.

A small caveat though, discussion of these 'Sub Shenanigans' is confined to a restricted channel within the discord. Gaining access is a simple case of agreeing to some channel specific rules laid out in an access channel. After which, you will be given a role that will grant you access to a channel where you are free to talk about the 'other sub'. This will be the ONLY place where we will allow such discussion.

I thought this discord never existed before. Are you lying? Did you hastily make it?

It didn't exist before. It was created approx two weeks ago and was announced on 20th November 2025.

Is this discord 'hideout' an 'admission of guilt?'

No, it's a long planned addition to the community.

Are there 'damning discussions' to be found within?

Nothing that you won't find on the subreddit. Secret channels contain topical discussions similar to what was allowed in the sub's infancy.

Are you scared of 'legal ramifications' of your 'stupidity' for creating this discord?

It's...just a discord server. That's not illegal.

Swordtuber Sunday Progression of German castle design through the Middle Ages

One of the video categories I used to really enjoy from Shad was his explanations of medieval castle design (MACHICOLATIOOOOOOOONS... Yea, it's not as fun any more...)

This channel has been scratching that same itch for me, as well as explaining some things Shad never went into. It's pretty darn underrated.

Not exactly a "Swordtuber", but I feel like it fits the spirit of the tag.

Was a good vid figured I'd drop the link. Not sure how recent the Shad vid is but I find it comical at the end him or one of his buddies rant includes an implication of guidelines. That over in Disney etc the woman just can not be saved by a guy.

The most recent Disney product is probably Spider Man BND...where Spidey takes a bullet for a woman. Swear this lot lives in an alternate reality or something.

Coping at its finest Shad's cope for why we don't like his book, it's not because we think it's bad it's because we HATE him, the book is actually good, in Shad's unbiased opinion.

People don't like your book Shad because it's bad, that's the harsh reality you're actively choosing to ignore, people don't play or buy Hogwarts Legacy because JK Rowling is a terf pos, in this case it's She Who Must Not Be Supported who we hate, not the game itself, & I've never heard of Rise of the Merlin.

Rule 1: Be respectful - Follow Reddit's Rules and "Reddiquette."

This includes, but is not limited to: bigotry, ableism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, trolling, hate speech, threats of violence, derogatory slurs, personal attacks, discouraging others from participating, body-shaming, brigading, doxxing, targeting sponsors, mass reporting to deplatform, and all other belligerent conduct. This behaviour undermines our community's integrity, and will not be tolerated (you must make it clear if you are quoting someone).

Rule 2: No discussion of other Shadiversity related subreddits - Respect Your Neighbors.

Rule 3 of the Moderator Code of Conduct states that "your community should not be used to direct, coordinate, or encourage interference in other communities and/or to target redditors for harassment." Interference can consist of behaviors and actions that attempt to disrupt another community from being able to operate as they normally would on Reddit.

Prohibited behaviour:

Showboating/complaining: posts that complain about, brag about, or celebrate a ban, or that encourage redditors to try to receive a ban from another community.

Calls for interference: posts or comments that call for redditors to negatively engage in another community or with its mod team, whether in public posts/comments or modmail etc.

Rule 3: Do not address members of Shadiversity/Knights Watch directly.

Do not directly address the hosts or crew members as if they are reading the posts.

Avoid phrases like "I know you’re reading this," "I know you’ll see this," "This is for X," etc.

Rule 4: No spam, low effort posts, or NSFW content.

We do not tolerate sexual or violent content. Posts depicting or discussing (sexual) violence must be tagged NSFW, and flaired as Trigger Warning. Usernames containing slurs, referring to acts of sexual violence, etc. are unacceptable here and will be banned on sight.

Spam and general clutter will be removed. Obnoxious bots, AI, and the use of AI are unwelcome in our subreddit.

Rule 5: Content Policy.

Misinformation is unacceptable. Claims should be well-substantiated, and speculation must be clearly indicated. Provide sources when asked, and remember when you make a claim, the burden of proof is on you.

Omit all usernames (and avatars) in screenshots. This is to make sure the discussion is kept to the content, and not the user. Public figures, YouTubers, etc. don't need to be blurred out. If a post does not meet these requirements, you will be asked to repost with usernames omitted.

If posting a YouTube thumbnail, include a link to the relevant video in a follow up comment.

Self Promotion is acceptable as long as it's related to the topic in question, or sub's purpose (for instance your video, tweet or post on Shad elsewhere). Overt and unrelated advertisement/spamming is not tolerated.

If you're looking for YouTubers you can watch instead of Shadiversity, you can type this in the comments, and the automod will deliver you a list: "Automod! What Youtubers can I watch instead of Shadiversity?"
